Announcing the /gg FTW! Social Feed

ggFTW News

Greetings all!

It's been a while since anyone heard much from me. I've been busy with school but I'm happy to announce that I graduated with honors on Tuesday, August 16, 2010! That, however, is not the subject of this announcement.

I mentioned to my team that I'd jump back into hardcore development when I got back and I've wasted no time. I'm pleased to announce the launch of the /gg FTW! Social Feed. To view the social feed, just click the big logo on top of the page or navigate to the /gg FTW! home page. Right now, the feed only lists registrations, threads, posts, and visitor messages. You can also post a visitor message to yourself to let your friends know what you're up to -- we plan to change the name of these in the very near future to avoid confusion.

WAIT! I don't want to view everyone -- just my friends!

No worries, we've taken care of that. If you're a registered member, just navigate to your profile details page. From there, you'll see a field titled "Social Feed Contents." You may select "Everone" or "Friends" from this list. Keep in mind, members on your ignore list will not show up. Also, if you don't have many friends on /gg FTW!, now may be the time to make some :)

OMG STALKERS! I don't want to show up in the social feed for ANYONE!

No worries, we've thought of that as well. Again, navigate to your profile details page and look for an option titled "Social Feed." Clicking "Enable" causes your activity to show up in the social feed whereas "Disable" completely disables your activity in the feed. Keep in mind, if you click this option your friends won't even be able to see your activity. Don't worry, we don't show posts in private forums, forums with special permissions, or other non-public information such as private blog posts or private messages.

I did some action here and it isn't showing up in the Social Feed? What gives?

The social feed is still in beta -- we're testing it out with a minimal feature set to make sure we don't blow something up. As time goes on we'll add more activities such as blogs, comments, arcade scores, images, wiki edits, etc.

I want to see some new functionality to the social feed.

And we love to hear your suggestions! Simply drop us a note in the Questions, Feedback & Suggestions forum and we'll evaluate your idea. We're always looking to better the site and we value your feedback! Also, if you see something wrong please don't hesitate to report it in the Site Bugs forum. We'll address it in short order.

I hope everyone enjoys these new features and we'd love to hear your feedback.

Your friendly neighborhood NoeJeko.
