It allows you to jump or climb ladders, emphasizes arcade-like dynamic to the game play, and doesn't have confusing perspective transitions so it's easily approachable for anyone to play.

One of the worst MMORPGs ever made. Don't ever think about downloading this sorry excuse of a MMORPG. Not to mention it has the worst leveling system and community of any MMO to date.>_<

I don't know how much it's changed since I've played it since I quit a couple of years back. The graphics are nice and the game is pretty fun, but I found it hard to level. I'm not sure if it's still as hard, it might have changed. Overall, it isn't a bad game in my opinion.

Ever since the 'Big Bang' (a complete remake and balancing), the game isn't that big as a grind fest til you hit Level 90+, which is actually a good thing. With cut-cinemas, a storyline (unlike most games), and constant events, this game will keep you on your toes. There's a lot of haters out there, but if the game was that bad, why was it labeled as one of the most profitable free-MMORPG of all time? The game has potential and is very unique. Comparing to the game play from a couple years back, the progress of implementing new things changed dramatically, and is worth re-playing it again to those who hasn't tried the new change.

In the downside, it's still a Cash oriented game, but on the upscale to cashers, there are events where you can either buy PERMANENT items, extended time for the same price, or discounted items on a weekly/biweekly basis. The game does need to release non-cash related items more often though.

Simplistic combat and gameplay that pretty much ANYONE can get into and enjoy for the most part. This is Maple's biggest appeal, yet also, one of its major flaws.

You see, you can get people who find other MMOs too 'complicated' or 'weird' to get into this. Problem is, its this kind of person that gives Maple its horrid community reputation.

For those of us who are looking for a true challenge. Expect dissapointment: the movement of the characters are too slow to challenge players to fight skillfully, and post invincibility after every hit along with the lack of potion cooldown sucks the tension right out of fighting. The bosses which DO offer a challenge, can only do so through cheap methods such as attacks that drop your hp instantly to 1, or just plain deal more than your character gets naturally, forcing you to spend money to boost your survivability... which of course, has nothing to do with combat itself.

The game is also extremely infested with hackers. Expect events to be ruined and rare items to randomly deflate. There's even been several cases of meso exploits causing several rollbacks within the past year. and one case already this year.

On the upside, some bosses do cause players to form a strategy. Most do become routine once the code is 'cracked' however, but nexon's working on adding bosses that limit pot cooldown and such so there's hope. There's also an impressive number of variants of the 5 basic classes to play around with as well. SP builds have been streamlined since Big Bang, so its now VERY hard to 'screw up' your character like it was back in the day. As stated before, the ease of the gameplay is a two sided coin: it really is nice to play such a easy game, and you get to meet the types of people you just wouldn't see in the typical strategic MMO. Also, MS has the best character customization I've ever seen in a 2-d MMO and very few 3-d ones could hope to compete. Among cash players, you can pretty much identify people by outfits. No two people look alike. The character design in general is also pretty freaking cute, which boosts the appeal of the game. Pairing them with the gorgeous skill effects (most having a touch of 3d effects) was a very good idea~

Was grindy.

Came back after the exp changes.

Fun if you have other people to play with though.

In short: THE GAME IS VERY OUT DATED, MOVE ALONG

The EXP curve allows easier leveling, but the classes are imbalanced, some are WAY more powerful than they should be, and monsters HURT YOU UPON CONTACT. This game has no PvP, has limited training areas, has boring party quests that must be done over and over to level. With all the other MMOs to choose from, this one should be the last on your list.

Came back to this game on request of my best friend (who has been playing it consistently for the past several years) and I gotta say, it's still pretty fun, if not more so. The leveling curve has been changed, so it's a lot easier to get to a higher level, they've added a few new classes (Arans are fun as hell, but I haven't gotten a chance to try Evan yet), and the PQs can get pretty fun (I'm in love with monster carnival tbh). They've even added permanent NX items to the list. They're more expensive, but at least they don't expire like the normal ones do. The only thing I don't particularly care for are the boats and such. Having to wait 15 minute to get ON the boat, and then having to wait another half hour to get to the town I want is annoying as all hell -- especially when I AFK and a boss happens to show up and kill me. Yeah, great going there guys.
