Graphics are nice, sprites were new, but it gets bring when you don't have any friends to play with XD

what kind of protection system does it use?
to be more accurate: does it use gameguard?

I had a lot of fun with this game for the short amount of time that I played it, and for once, healers aren't ridiculously hard to play. The sprite system is great, and it's easy to get into. The graphics are pretty nice, and the requirements aren't too demanding.

This game is pretty simple and easy to pick up, and the best feature is the sprites. You can auto-loot, gather materials, and craft materials with sprites - which add a bit more to the game and allows players to be able to keep up with weapons and loot gathering. In other words, this is a very noob friendly game.

The monsters aren't too diverse, and official PvP can't be accessed until level 30. Further more, PvP is kinda of imbalanced and favors extremely rich players over normal ones - thus making it very unpleasant for folks who like to PvP who are new to the game. The game also loses its charm due to recolored mobs and recycled quests. Leveling is easy, at least.

A pretty good game that doesn't rely on grinding too much.
However, it still relies a lot on party. But the Sprites are a nice feature to the game.

Overall, a very nice game, immature people are low and it's pretty active even on weekdays. Do give it a try if you wanna.

Grand Fantasia does not push the boundaries of the typical mmoRPG. The huge amount of quests available means that you will never have to grind, but most of those quests are: "Kill monster and retrieve X items" and have you running back and forth across HUGE maps.

For a game that emphasizes teaming up with other people, I would have expected a more efficient way to form parties and find other players on the same Boss-quest as yourself. Maybe like a bulletin board or something. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not a fan of right-clicking on random people and inviting them into my party only to have them leave several seconds later.

Market is annoying. There's a fee to put your items on market and are limited to having that item up for only 24 hours. This means that the best time to sell would be during the weekend (and Friday), when there are more players online. Not only does this effective the seller, but it also impacts the buyer as well. If you want to purchase that super cool sword on Tuesday, you'll probably have to wait a couple more days for it to actually make it into the market on the weekend.

On the bright side, quests give you plenty of money and you have sprites to craft your items, so you never really have to frequent the market much.

Speaking of which, Sprites are an interesting implement in the game. You can have up to 3, and even when they b*tch and moan, they're still cute and good company. Sprite crafting is fun and breaks the monotony of repeating the same boring old quests.

Overall, if you are new to mmorpgs, want a game with no grind and a decent community, give Grand Fantasia a try. But if you're looking for something with a bit of pizazz, keep on looking 'cause you're not going to find it here.

Simple game, rather newbie friendly, so one can't go too wrong here. I enjoy the log-in background music, though the rest of the game's sound aren't amazing, most being reused. Personally because of it being on Aeria and my previous experiences with Dream of Mirror Online community, I take a more biased look towards the community. However, many people may still help out, wouldn't rely on world chat for it though.

Nihil679 - 12-17-2009

There is one really bad thing in this game - 10% EXP loss penalty for death. That's just plain dumb. And as flaris said, i agree that the game is heavily based on party play. I'm getting killed really much as an lvl 23 Archer with the best orange gears within my reach.

jooozek - 12-14-2009

Game heavily based on party play. I wouldn't call it original except for the sprites, but that's just masking a craft job. If I had to compare it, I'd call it a mix between Seal Online (graphics wise, but better) and World of Warcraft (gameplay). Overall, good free alternative to WoW.

flaris - 12-09-2009

A game that really relies on party work, and thankfully the amount of brats aren't that high. A good game to play.
