Atlantians became very prosperous after they created the substance called Oriharukon. Wanting to learn the secrets of this mysterious material, many other civilizations implored the Atlantians to share their knowledge, but they refused, closing their door to outsiders.
Anyone that persisted, the Atlantians brutally destroyed. Eventually, the Atlantians exhausted all the supplies of the four crystals, the raw materials for Oriharukon. Their thirst for the crystals led to the destruction of four great civilizations (the Yellow River, the Indus Valley, Mesopotamia, and Egypt), and set them on a path to conquer the world to find more.
But the arrogance and greed of Atlantians would instead lead to their demise. When they lost control of the magic powers generated by Oriharukon, Atlantis disappeared in the blink of an eye. But, remnants of Oriharukon survived.

Oh I just love Atlantica, one of the best MMOs that I've played. I think that Atlantica is unique with the battle system, and it's a great idea. I also like the PvP, there's a bit more strategy in it than in other MMOs. And the quest system, well, what can I say? There's always something to do in Atlantica.
Contrary to popular beliefs, Atlantica can run on a relatively old system (mine is a six-year old fossil, and I run it fine), although a decent gfx card is required (else you get recurrent weird errors like BSODs and the like).
Atlantica is unique in that the grind is quest-based. The main questline is extremely comprehensive, and there are multiple supplementary side questlines- you'll never have to sit down and whack things for hours to gain levels.
Excellent player run economy, unique and fun battle system with more to come soon, diverse and interesting characters with a plethora of quests and great plot. Cash vs non cash is also reasonably fair, unlike many other F2P MMO's.
I like Atlantica. But my computer doesn't take it very well so I play it when I can.
If you like turn based rpg, mercenary hiring, daily quests and story quests...then you'll sure love to try Atlantica Online :)
