Anyway, just in case anyone cares, my skills of choice for Swordsman would be ...
Throwing Sword [Defender] - 3 shots per level, wide, blocks bullets, does great damage. Can't slash while your sword is flying though.
Mangle [Defender] - I actually think this is the best defensive skill Swordsmen have, and as an added bonus it's a great way to kill mobs that come in from the bottom or any time you need your space.
Thrust [Knight] - hits in front and behind, and it's a bit wider than it looks. It's not particularly special but 6 shots per level is nice and it really helps your limited ranged repertoire.
Spirit Sword [Defender] - the only one I'm not sure about, but I really didn't find any of the other skills that great. This lets you get some extra firepower out without forcing you to aim.

I found the mini-boss in Bifrost hard. That god damned bastard spawns bullets a good distance away from him, generally where I hang back. All others that pissed me off were more annoying than hard. They moved really fast, and made it an utter pain to try to even HIT them. It was basically "HURR HURR WHEN YOU GONNA MAKE YOUR MISTAKE?" while I get a hit or 2 every 1 or 2 attacks they did (Literally a HIT, not a skill). Such a damn piss off.
I agree with all skills but Mangle. Only reason why is because it has a delay when you start it up that allows you to get hit. Had quite a few deaths activating Mangle only to die the instant after activating it =/.
To add to that list:
Pentagram Slash [Fighter] - Just a good skill to rake up damage.
