How to: Report Posts

Now and then, you may come across a post that may be against the rules.
But what do you do? who do you contact?

Well, the forum has a nice handy button to report any posts that may break any of the rules.
This is called the Report Button, and it will send a report to all of the staff.

But first off, how do you report a post? or what can I ask in my report?
Read on and you will be a reporting expert.

How to use Report Button -
----
On the left of the post you want to report, you click the Exclamation Mark (!)

You will then be transferred to a page with a big box, here you will type the reason for reporting the post.
While detail is not always required, as sometimes the post speaks for itself, you should still say what rule it breaks.

When you are done typing the reason, you click the Send Report button, and all of the staff will be notified.
Sometimes reports may take time to be completed, and they can be rejected by staff if they disagree with the report.
Take note that once the report is sent, you may not ask staff what its current status is, the report is between staff and the one who was reported.

Note: Making False Reports will earn you an infraction, the report function is not a toy.
---------

Using Report button for other things -
You can also use the reporting feature for more personal reasons aside from just posts that break the rules.
These reports can contain the fallowing requests:
  • Fixing/Changing threads title
  • Moving Thread
  • Closing Thread
  • Deleting Thread
  • Adding/Removing Poll Option

Staff are more then happy to help out, but such requests are usually done if the Thread Creator wishes it, or it breaks a rule, although closing of threads can be requested by anyone if the topic gets out of hand.

Note: Any threads requesting to be moved from Random to an appropriate section will have all its spam/off-topic posts deleted prior to moving.

Reporting Private Messages
With the new vB update, you may now report any private messages that contain any harassment, disturbing material or racist comments.

The report button is located on the top right of the PM

You don't have to report everything you see, but it does give the staff a hand in dealing with stuff, as it is a very big forum to manage.

If you notice any mistakes with this guide, or have questions, feel free to drop me a PM.

Great guide, Light. It's so much easier to manage faulty posts with the Report Function as opposed to members informing the staff via MSN/IRC/PM.

Ah, a very odd phenomenon:
Several members mistakenly use the report post function to reply to threads. No, please.

If I only had been able to read this guide when I was a noob CM.
I had loved you for it back then.
