Default Plenty of people probably have been through this.

I am positively sure that I'm not the only one with this problem AND that there have probably been solutions posted up already, if so, please, direct me.

If the title doesn't last easy give it away, I'm getting the update process fail.

If it helps, the files that it has problems with are "Trickster.exe" and on a reinstallation the file was "TricksterOnline.url"

Things I've tried:

I've tried to reinstall SEVERAL times.

I've also tried temporarily disabling my firewall and my anti-virus. I've also tried removing nProtect 3.0.

I've tried to reinstall with both disabled, well firewall was on.

I've tried re-updating also.

I'm using an older client, from a mirror site, cause of space and computer issues, and it never had any problems until the recent patch, that lasted 12 hours I suppose.

Trickster hasn't been a problem until the recent patch, what happened?

Operating System:

Windows XP, SP3.

What else could I tell you.

I had enough space for the update.

Hi casp! No wonder I haven't seen you online for weeks.

Hmmm... I do experience these update errors usually after maint., when there's a big patch downloaded. But I usually run the client again a couple few times and it works.

Is your Internet Connection passing through a router or anything? Try to connect your PC directly to the ISP. It's just a theory of mine that maybe (MAYBE) I encountered problems because while the patch was downloading, the internet connection was laggy or delayed, thus a problem with update. It's just a suggestion to try out.

also try the following utilities :

- run a registry cleanup before a fresh install
- run a malware scan (MBAM or malwarebytes antimalware, works wonders)

or try a check file option on update.

if all else fails, a clean reformat is the last resort.

How should I go about performing this?

I'll try that, and I'll try restarting my wireless router, cause my iPod has had some problems connecting too.

Instead of letting your internet connection pass through the router before going to your computer, connect it directly to your PC / laptop. Oh by the way, this is LAN and not wireless. Its worth a try?

I had cut it off along with firewall and ran update again, still failed.

In my opinion, look at the bottom part of the info in the .txt file, where it says UNZIP FAIL.

Right around where it says SetFileTimeError(183)SIZE=193.

That's where I see the problem.

Hello

For couple months now with each patch I have been through the same problem as you which is updating failed but I figured out it didn't really failed ,what failed actually is the version update so I start to updated manually by using what Procrastinatus posted in her/his thread

/forum/trickster-onl...d-how-fix.html

I am not sure if it will work for you since your windows is xp while what is explained here is for windows 7 but I hope it can helps you : D.
