A visit to japanese Trickster~ にほんのトリックスターでバケーション

NOTE: Information of this first post will be edited freely in case of new/corrected information.
I made a video About jTO. (and paula). Go see it :3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXO0QCKfqX8
(More (easier to use) Free Vpn Added. See new sections added to guide and Appendix. (3/16/2013))
(I Added more Methods and troubleshooting. Please see the appendix (2/27/2013))

THIS GUIDE IS STRICTLY FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES

some information can be found here: /forum/trickster-online-general-chat/120679-operation-visit-jto.html

Disclaimer/Warning:
We are like guest/tourist visiting japan. Please be sure to behave according, and appropriately.

Please do no come to JTO if:

you just because you want to play Trickster.
(you could easily visit tTO for such a thing)

you have Wishes to Cause Chaos

Your first plan is to blurt out "I'M PLAYING JTO FROM [insert non-japanese place here]"

Differences in jTO:
2nd job requirements is lvl60 tm50 (like in tTO and kTO)

You can type in English characters, Hiragana characters, Katakana characters, and Kanji characters. (read Kale15's Disclaimer)

There are more events. (myshop and ingame)
-Ingame event equips are ALOT stronger than that which is seen in eTO
-Some of the ingame event equips were actually used as egg-shop/myshop in eTO.(ie: dinosaur shirt)

Its in japanese (yeahhhhhhhh.... didn't see that one coming, right?)

No more Recycle robot and Alan(tempering guy),
Fusion expert Arlene Pretty much absorbed BOTH of their functions. (talk to her if you need to temper/recycle/fuse stuff)

more updates from kTO implemented

"Account Lock" to prevent malicious users from doing bad stuff to your account.

Most myshop items are timed. (so don't expect most things to be perma like in eTO)

Altiverse forging % is now 50% in jTO. Using a willies stabilizer does NOT make it 100%. So be warned~

Some important information from kale15:
Quote:

Let's see, only use English in private chat (whispers, guild, PMs) you can be banned for spamming by speaking English in all/public(not for just having a non-japan IP like timer is saying). As for the game itself, knowing the options menu would be really helpful as the large number of voice pets gets annoying, 2nd job is 60/50 not 50/40 like on eTO, no free ducky set. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head.
Recommended World: Fantasia :py62:

Words of warning from SnowBerry:

Quote:

Sorry but I highly do not recommend doing anything to bypass and getting into jTO. Why? It's region locked for a reason, you could get in serious trouble. Some people would even go out of their way to report you.

Even if you did managed to find a way, this could put you guys on high alert. I'm pretty sure a few people are gonna blurt out "I'm playing jTO in the US(or somewhere besides Japan)" or something around those lines and cause a whole road of chao.

Just my warning, I am not your hands or brain so it's up to you to decide what to do.
my guide will be Separated devided into sections For easier navigation:

Making a Japanese Trickster account:

Now I have two Methods of installing jTO and a VPN so that It will work:
(I got more Methods and troubleshooting added. Please see the appendix (2/27/2013))

There is a Easy method: (Tested on windows 7)
  • Tested working on a windows 7 PC and a Laptop.
  • antivirus:Microsoft security essentials.
  • Computer and laptop specs: more than enough to play trickster.
  • Vpn Sofware used: Used built in networking for VPN

There is a HARD method: (Tested on Windows 7 and Mac os 10.8)
  • Tested working on the same PC's above and a Macbook pro (i5 model)
  • Antivirus: PC: microsoft security essentials. Mac: No antivirus
  • VPN software: Anything that connects to PPTP type VPN's (used windows and mac built in)
  • Extra software: PC: vmware player MAC: Vmware fusion
  • Specifications: Strong enough to run and extra windows xp and trickster. (pretty high)
  • note: Should work with linux (use vmware player for linux. any one want to try?)

I will list the Easy method first. Then the Hard method will be posted afterwards.

Continued in next post.....

I got in, the VPN randomly deletes my user info though. It's kind of bothersome, I have to keep signing up over and over again about once every 30 mins :V

Kanoka 02-03-2013 02:29 PM

I think for trickster save your use details, you must successfully log out. so if you can log in, set the user information then log out, it should save~
(abrupt D/C's make u lose the unsaved user data)

Also for the vpn, try turning off file/printer sharing + client for microsoft networks, and see if that does anything.

When I First used the vpn is used to D/c alot. but after tinkering with it a bit, I got it work a while lot stabler. (I was able to Leave it over night without any d/cs for 2 days)

Alright, I'll test the method of turning off sharing in a bit

EDIT: it worked for a bit longer, but after a while, it logs me out and then after entering the same log-in info, it tells me that the log-in data was not recognized.

Kanoka 02-03-2013 08:58 PM

not sure if this is too relevant, but i used the leatrix packet fix~
(when it disconnects, its takes a while to log back on. I could never get it to reconnect on first try, i had to try again like 2-3 minutes later~)

Edit:
When i turn off the leatrix packet fix i get a pretty noticeable slow down~
If some1 else can confirm this, I'll add it to the guide~

Alright, that will be my next test!

Thank yeh for the advice.

EDIT: Well that thing made my VPN flip its gasket, so I'm not quite sure what to do now

Kanoka 02-04-2013 09:48 AM

Operating system? (say if 64bit)
antivirus?
background programs? (Especially anything that uses networking)

Lots of antiviruses like interfering with VPNs~ and skype make my connection unstable.

Some of my friends say to try a program called "Gamebooster". Try at your own digression.

Random note:
Seems like network setup's effect performance a lot.

At my house:
eTO runs buttery smooth. Can spam potions.
jTO runs Very well. can spam potions. not as fast as eTO.
tTO runs VERY laggy. I can barely walk for 3 seconds without stopping.

At my school:
eTO runs like [insert Bad word here]
jTO runs Very very good (Better than at home)
tTO runs great. (Not as good as jTO, but MUCH better than at home.)

My houses set up is pretty much a comcast setup + dlink router.

I have no idea how my schools infrastructural is setup.

I'll try out a bunch of stuff, I just want everyone to have access to an awesome and stable connection by the time that eTO closes.

Thanks so much for this guide, by the way, I shall continue being the guinea pig for testing this VPN service :'p

Kanoka 02-04-2013 12:00 PM

That'll be nice :3
The more testers, the more optimized we can get this running :3
(btw there are other VPN's you can also connect too. this is only one of many)

atm I am running trickster online smoothly with tsunagarumon VPN~
setup:
laptop
processor i7
4gb ram
Killer-N 1102 (factory modified intel wireless card)

OS = Windows 7 64bit
Antivirus: Microsoft security essentials. (turned on)
Browser: google chrome
VPN software: windows 7 built-in
VPN: Tsunagarumon
(vpn settings: connection > properties > file/printer sharing + client for microsoft networks are Both turned off)
Leatrix_latency_fix_3.00 is being used

My current region: USA northwest
home: comcast service + dlink router.
University: unknown.

Edit: hmm try also turning off internet protocol version 6 (tcp/ipv6) (in vpn settings)
turning it off seems to have positive effects for me~

Stormquake 02-04-2013 03:35 PM

So only leave the Ipv4 on then?

Alright, I'll try all these things out.

The leatrix thing seemed to cause problems for me, but I'll try it on and off with the new settings and get back to you with the results!

I might also just be having problems from using a college ethernet connection. :'p

I'll be at home in a few weeks, so I'll be sure to test it out there too.

P.S. The game itself runs surprisingly smoothly, but the problems I'm having are related to randomly getting disconnected. I honestly have less ping on the jTO servers than I do on the eTO servers :'p

Kanoka 02-04-2013 06:09 PM

Hmm seems like I cannot connect to jTO atm x.x
its loads up, goes black, closes down.
I checked on jTO website and looks they having a Maintenance ~.
So imma gonna wait till the maint is done and try again~
(right now its 11am over there. maint ends 5 pm xD)

between the big green button and the log-in button, there is a wrench. Those are the routine maintenance times.

Also, Kanoka, I'll be testing all those new methods you gave me when the patch is over... or... when I get up I suppose, ahaha.

Kanoka 02-05-2013 06:35 AM

Off topic but slightly related? I'm on vacation and logging TO from Hong Kong. I thought eTO would be blocked in all Asian countries with their own version?

I know a few people who are from Thailand and China and they accessed eTO perfectly fine. So I'm guessing eTO is international? Is that what you meant or did I misread a bit?
