· Restrict or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying the Services. For example, disrupting the flow of chat in chat rooms with vulgar language, abusiveness, hitting the return key repeatedly, so the screen goes by too fast to read, use of excessive SHOUTING (all caps) in an attempt to disturb other users, "spamming," or flooding (continuous posting repetitive text), are prohibited.
· Publish, post, upload, transmit, distribute or disseminate Content that is harmful, abusive, vulgar, sexually explicit, defamatory, libelous, obscene, infringing, embarrassing, unwanted, invasive of another's right of privacy or publicity, hateful or racially, ethnically or, in a reasonable person's view, otherwise offensive or objectionable. (This includes GM’s or any Ntreev USA representative)
· A character name or in-game char that is considered as inappropriate language or cursing.
The concern regarding this particular situation is felt on behalf of both parties. We will admit that the immediate account actions can be construed as unforgiving. However, I will go into detail as to why we’d taken these actions.
Ntreev USA, will not directly action an account that is or has used the questionable foreshortening of the word Raccoon on sight. We will wait until the name/chat has been brought to our attention, and then we will not action the account without a warning. The reason we are taking a relatively lenient approach is due to the fact that the shortened version of the word “Raccoon” had been used in Trickster Online for some time. If our game Administration team is approached about a character name that may be in violation of our posted policies, we will offer a name change if deemed necessary. If any chat is brought to our attention, we will educate the player found to be in violation without banning said player for any length of time, unless said word was used specifically to construe racial/ethnic prejudice or hate. However, the actions taken by Ntreev USA during the “O/X Quiz” event are not about what was said nor simply character names, the actions were taken specifically in regards to immediate Zone Disruption.
Simply put, one of the most popular events in the Trickster world was directly affected. Any violations of this nature will be immediately penalized, due to the fact that the participants exhibited blatant disregard for both the authority of the Ntreev USA Staff and the enjoyment/playability of other Trickster Online players. In short, specific individuals that had been actioned compromised the game for any other players in the area. At times, the number of players was in the hundreds.
We honestly apologize for any inconvenience that these circumstances may have brought to our players, both to those who have been actioned and those who were legitimately waiting to participate in the event.
Ntreev USA will be sincerely reviewing any rebuttals about the actions that we’ve taken. While we will not promise to return access to all accounts, we will hear you out.
If you would like to respond to an action taken against your account in regards to the O/X quiz disruption situation, please submit a 1:1 Support Request. We will review each 1:1 thoroughly and respond appropriately.
Words are powerful tools; throughout your travels in the worlds that we, Ntreev USA publish, you will be using these tools to achieve a number of goals. You may be conversing with other players, finding the perfect group to help you with a quest, or simply voicing your opinions in general. As anyone who has hit their thumb with a hammer well knows, tools can cause great pain when used carelessly. Words are no different. The use of inappropriate and potentially offensive language in general chat, forums or against another player is not allowed. We reserve the right to evaluate each incident on a case by case basis and take action as necessary.
Again, if we take action against the foreshortening of the word Raccoon, this will be in regards to the fact that the word had been either brought to our attention:
(i.e. chat, character names, forums, and any other medium of communication). Just because a word or words may not be filtered, doesn’t mean it can be used freely. This policy applies equally to all language that is found to be offensive, and is by no means exclusive to this particular issue.
We will support a zero tolerance policy:
While these repercussions may seem harsh, we feel very strongly that this language has no place within the games that Ntreev USA publishes, due to the extremely offensive nature of any words that may:
In closing, here at Ntreev USA, we are all video game players; from MMO’s to action games, RPG’s, and everything in between. That being said, we understand the frustration involved with this scenario from a number of sides.
- Promote racial/ethnic hatred
- Is recognized as a racial/ethnic slur
- Alludes to symbols of racial/ethnic hatred
Will not monitor “chat” that is of a private nature unless a player involved reports said chat.
