Computer running noticably slower/low FPS in games
I'm not entirely sure what is causing this problem. My mom downloaded a movie, and it put some kind of virus on the computer. The reason it did this is because she, for some reason, uninstalled our anti-virus software. No idea why. Anyways, I came to find out that I had disk volume errors. I couldn't manage to fix it.
I tried to scan my hard drive and fix the errors, but couldn't get it to do it because I only have one drive, so I scheduled it for next restart (reboot, think it's the same thing?), but I never saw anything happen. So I factory reset my computer and hoped that fixed it.
It fixed the video skipping I had, and the computer going really slow. But my FPS in games are still chopped in half. I used to sit at around 30-35, but now it's constantly 14-20, and I can't find out the issue. Is there any way that I can?
Edit: Forgot to add this. Ever since that virus thingy, my CPU usage has been MUCH higher than usual. It's usually only 30%ish without games running, and then it's 70%~80% at MAXIMUM, but it hits 100% constantly with games, 50%~65% without games running. I don't know why.
