Computer freezes periodically
So every so often I'll just be working on a project in Word and my computer will completely freeze up (all the while my music becomes incredibly distorted). I'm curious as to why it would do this as the computer is relatively new, it's not overheating, it's not out of memory.
I haven't done a full virus scan lately, a quick scan showed no infections. Moreover, this only occurs when my laptop isn't doing any intensive activity (that is to say, just doing something on Word or something similar). Any ideas? |
Sounds like RAM problems to me. Try running this Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool. Launch it using a bootable USB or CD.
I had similar issues with faulty RAM. Lag -> BSOD. |
could be something in you APM settings. i have had a number of less severe issues caused by windows power management on this laptop.

It could be graphics if you have weird artefacts when it occurs.
do a chkdsk from command prompt as well to see if the drive is functioning well. |
Ran a chkdsk and nothing came up wrong. I'll do test the RAM when I'm at home and/or find my flash drive.
Thanks for the help thus far! :) |
