computer randomly restarting, how will I know when it'll happen again?

Well my computer performance is fine but occasionally it randomly restarts and it's pretty annoying especially when I'm in the middle of doing something, is there any way I can know when my computer is on the verge of restarting? (like maybe if I can check my PC temperature somehow?)

if you think it's temperature related you can use one of the many temp checking programs available. i use speedfan, but i think cpu-z and a bunch of other things do it aswell.

It could be you're getting BSODs and it restarts automatically

Check if it is disabled

You can also upload your C:\Windows\Minidump (files created here when BSOD occurs) files here if it you see anything there so i can have a look.

I don't get BSOD, my pc just restarts automatically as if I clicked start>restart, should I still upload C:\Windows\Minidump files?

Yea upload the minidump files if there's any.
But if there isn't any BSOD or mini dump files it could be heat.
Check the event viewer for any errors as well. (Start -> Run -> eventvwr)

Highly likely it is your RAM followed by your graphics card.

Not entirely you can test RAM with Memtest86.com - Memory Diagnostic or Memory Diagnostics Tool - Windows 7 Forums

I know this is long overdue, but I finally got time to get around to taking a look at this memtest thing lol.

I also found out that I actually am getting BSoDs, had the automatic restart check box ticked.

Is there any sort of guide on how to use MemTest? I looked around but I don't understand the way it is explained on the website :/. I'm using Windows XP btw.

1. Burn memtest to a disc
2. restart your computer
3. boot into memtest and not your hdd/OS
From there memtest does it's thing pretty much automatically

Don't have any CDs so I tried to burn it on a DVD, didn't work. I even set the booting priority to the DVD drive...

Are there any other alternatives for memory error checking without use of CDs etc?.

Memtest doesn't guarantee ram isn't faulty. I've had sticks get 100% and fail to boot on many mobos. You have to run a stress test. Like intelburntest with maxed our memory.

Windows 7 should have a built in memory diagnostic.

Ok so I left Memtest running overnight for about 10 hours, it said I had something like 6532 errors luls.

So, what am I supposed to do once I've run memtest?

Try it with one stick of RAM and see if you get the same errors.
Then try it with another stick and do it again.
(You might want to use a different RAM slot as ram slot can cause errors)

Note that if you get the exact same errors from each of the ram then it might just be a bios addressing/protection or some bios settings causing it.
