Default Random "disconnects"

I put disconnects in quotations because they don't really seem to be disconnects. I'll get into that now.

I'm on a Netgear wireless router, I can hardwire but I still get such a good lat I don't notice at all, even when I game (I run about 30ms home/30 ms server on WoW), so I opt out of extra cords that restrict comfort and movement. My laptop is ab Asus K72J, if you need any info beyond that just let me know.

Basically, it seems whenever I am not on WoW, my browser disconnects. Sometimes when I'm on WoW, but mostly off. The thing is, my signal strength is always full bars and while I'm ALT+Tabbed, WoW will be online, running my usual ms of latency, but my browser will be unable to load pages.

Spoiler!

But if I can stay connected to an mmo, which afaik is essentially constant streaming data, but I can't load a browser page unless I disconnect and reconnect my wireless signal... what's going on?

If I get any responses before 3pm EST I'll still be at classes and I'm not sure if the same problem persists with my schools wifi.

Edit: It happens on the wifi at my college as well.

i don't really know what the cause of the problem is, but i've experienced it as well. any time i use a wireless network my computer will randomly lose the ability to stop browsing the internet but won't disconnect me from constant connections.

my solution, which admittedly isn't a very good one but does work, was to always have a torrent running with 0 kb/s upload and 1 kb/s download. this seems to stop the wireless router from ignoring my requests for data.

It's strange, because I can disconnect and reconnect and still stay connected to WoW, or keep streaming a video. However, my other tabs in Chrome can still disconnect. If I try to launch WoW while my browser is performing these disconnects, it can't open the launcher.

I'm going to try hardwiring and browsing tonight, but this just started happening yesterday, and I have to say every 3-5 refreshes/page loads and your internet exploding is a very frustrating thing.

I would try your solution but I don't torrent and streaming data for WoW doesn't seem to protect my connection anyway.

If anyone has any insight, I'd greatly appreciate this. I run wireless at my college often (I have long breaks between classes) and I typically have nothing better to do.

Edit: Hardwiring does not solve this problem.
> Updating Chrome also does not solve this, trying Firefox now.
> Firefox is no better
> My computer is the only one doing it afaik, the desktop where the router is directly connected has no problems, and I'm like 8 feet and 8 inches of wall away.
