help with provoke

hi, i'm playing in tlunia by the ign of NinjaRaidenX

i was at cursed village raid (normal;not-myth)
i used provoke at that big brown orc (the one that can spawn a lot of purple fire thing/ can do that zangief spinning attack [!]) but it did not chase after me.

there seem to be other instances where it did not work too

anyone can shed some light?

my provoke is max (5)

thank you

sometimes if u go too far from the enemy when you use provoke the effect gets canceled

of course there are just some enemies where provoke wont work at all

try using it when they're just standing still

do you see a purple cloud on the enemy when you use it?

Gladiat 09-24-2009 10:41 AM

The purple cloud doesn't mean you have their agro. It just means that the monster/character got slowed down (Although that does mean you connected with provoke).

I've yet to see a monster/boss that isn't affected by provoke. Every single thing I've tried it on works.

EDIT: Also, moved to Sieg hunting grounds.

^ wut... if provoke connects doesnt it mean that you have their aggro then?

Not in PvP (Ok yea... the only things that don't have agro are players `-`)

But technically the monsters have to be inside the attack range, and the cloud only means a Curse for speed reduction.

However, the area for slowdown and the agro taking is a bit weird. I've taken agro from monsters that were standing right behind me although they did not take damage or get slowed down. Also, the levels that do not have the same two ranges (Level 1, 2, and possibly 3. Not sure) do not have the same agro/damage+curse range.

It's kind of like, there are 3 ranges for provoke. One for aggro, one for the pull, and one for the slowdown.
The pull has a semi circle-like range in front of you. The aggro has a full circle range around you (maybe a little bigger than the pull range). and the slowdown has a semi circle-like range in front of you but bigger than the pull's.

As for mobs that voke has no effect on. I know that for myth mobs, ice wall doesn't work on them. Maybe voke has a similiar property, or maybe not.

There's two ranges.

One is for the attack/pull and slowdown. Other is for the agrio. Hence the two ranges stated on the skill. Also, I've never slowed down anything outside my pull range (which is 90, as I have level 6 provocation), so I'm pretty sure it's only two ranges.

Well when I fought knights in pvp. Sometimes I get slowed down even though the pull never reached me. Maybe I'll get someone to test it when I have time.

Yeah, even if voke is cancelled, sometimes the slow is still there.

hi all, thanks for the replies.

i seem to have another issue with provoke (or perhaps its the particular monster)

yesterday night i was at L5-10 in a random party of
ryan
yuki
arien

yes, legend...

when we are fighting that boss with the 2 iron chained balls (err...), i used provoke, and it worked ok; followed me until my provoke is at about 50% cooldown etc...

so the fight dragged until i get to use provoke another time. HOWEVER, this time it followed me only for about 1/4 cooldown. another time it didn't follow me (i'll be willing to accept that it missed or something).

could the boss have any special property or something or my party possibly has some skills affecting provoke or whatsoever?

thanks

by the way, tlunia

Gladiat 10-14-2009 09:42 PM

The boss is Zakan. What level is your provoke, and are you sure you hit him with it?

ProjectLuniaX 10-14-2009 09:45 PM

I figured out that yukis freeze moves makes the mosnters follow her so maybe thats the problem

Gladiat 10-14-2009 09:52 PM

Ice wall can also take aggro, and it has a similar effect like Provocation.

ninjaraiden 10-14-2009 09:56 PM

yea, i'm sure i hit Zakan with my 5 point provoke because i moved to the right side when my team is top+bottom and it followed me to the right...for about 1/4 of the cooldown...

can't remember the ice wall part, but i'll take note of the freeze move.

many thanks to all---
