Default MAX: Magic Defense vs Protective Fortitude

I'm having trouble deciding which to max out, keep in mind it's for pure staging build.

Magic Defense is okay at level 3, but it only goes for 16 seconds. Maxing adds 6 more seconds to make it a total of 22 seconds with 120 seconds cooldown time and about 1 minute and 30 seconds before re-use. Useful for trapping and raiding and can save your life.

Protective Fortitude is either level 0 or level 4. With re-use at 60 seconds, cooldown is only 30 seconds which allows you to use this skill every minute. Heals 480 HP every 30 seconds with a 30 second gap before re-use. 1 minute is 480HP, 2 minutes is 960HP. Useful when all healers are dead and pots are in cooldown, and useful in soloing.

Well i'd say it depends, do you only have enough points to max only one of them out? Or can you have a little bit of both?
If you can get a little bit of both, I'd say max Fort and keep mdef at 3 since it always gave me enough time to do w/e with 16 seconds.

If you absolutely only want one of the skills (to say the truth.. kinda hard to decide), but i'd say keep mdef since usually with competent healers, they wont die to often/easily and if your particuraly good at dodging monster attacks, u'd be able to survive without Prot. Fort, and with only pots/playdead/counter, etc.

Magic Defense

Protective Fortitude is for PVP.
You rarely use it in stage unless all the eirs perish.
And it is a group buff so some might not like it cause you prevent some other buffs to be used.

I would say max fortitude because it has the ability to be used in a lot more situations than Mdef. I personally only use mdef on reavers (rarely), chariot bombs(more often) and adaman golemns. (cobolt raid/trapping). IDK maybe im not using it enough, but the fact remains that there are plenty more situations where fortitude saved my life because either the healers were dead or they just wasnt any way for them to heal me for 1 reason or another. especially with 7 other players around. mdef 3 / fortitude max

I would say max fortitude and 3 mdef, since 16 seconds in stage is quite enough and fortitude is pretty useful for soloing.

I would say Protective Fortitude. It's a decent recovery and soloing skill, but because it is a group buff, some might not like it. Still, it is useful in both PvP and stage and is more versatile than Magic Defense.

Let me give you an example of using mag defence in pvp:
1.
MAGIC DEFENCE ON!
noob mage get destroyed cuz he doest know what it is and you destroy him. but hes so noob you didnt even need to use mag defence.

2.
MAGIC DEFENCE ON!
good mage sees mag defence on. casts ice wall. u play ring around the ice wall. ur mag def expires. u get bcbd followed by cbd and combo and ur dead.

it would be good in stages though.

Okay, going to continue with my build as planned: Level 3 magic defense and Level 4 Fortitude, so far it's working well in raids.

Gaiety: I'll take this as a thread close request since your problem's been answered.

No, once your hp hits 0, your magic def is shot unless someone fake resses you.

I'd go with 3 Magic Defense and 4 Protective Fortitude. It's what I have right now and it works wonders. ;o

magic defense with cs item gives u 28 secs...

prot fortitude.. IMO.. is only used to get ur hp back so u can voke and playdead again.. healing with it is pretty lame..

so conclusion.. i'd get
5 mdef and 2 protective fortitude.

dude this is like a hybrid or stage build hes talkin bout so fort is good for healing. even if it is pvp i dnt get y ppl only use fort to voke and playdead cuz healing is really good in pvp. so many hate healing that they made anti healing rules. proves just how good healing with anymove at all in pvp is good. even limes heal and they luv it
