Kyzuumi's Scientist Guide

http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/x...entist/001.png
Welcome to Kyzuumi's latest guide for the pure lion class in Trickster Online. Well, you may ask yourself, why on earth would I want to play a lion? No one plays sense! Well, let me tell you, lions are one of the more fun classes I've played on Trickster Online. Lions utilize guns. I mean, honestly, need I say more? That's already pretty hot. You run around toting your gun and shooting everything in site. Lion's are decently good at farming due to their arsenal of a few AoEs, are fast paced so you rarely get bored, and they kick ass at bossing. Interested yet? Prepare to proceed further into Kyzuumi's Scientist Guide.

http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/x...ist/002_01.png
This is what is referred to as a build graph in Trickster Online. It's 4 numbers in sequence. The default build graph given for a lion is 2143, which translates into 2 Power:1 Magic:4 Sense:3 Charm, and the stat types are always in that order.

http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/x...ist/002_02.png
  • Power. The stats within power are AP, AC, and DX. AP is attack power, and is worthless to a lion. AC is your gun power, and is a very important stat. Dexterity is also worthless.
  • Magic. Everything here is useless for you, ignore them all.
  • Sense. You are locked into a 4 in sense because you are a sense type. The stats are DA (Detect Ability, a fox stat), LK (affects block rates and gun accuracy) and WT (weight to carry more yummy pots and BULLETS YEAH)
  • Charm. Charm is probably way more important to a lion as opposed to Power stats, because HP is VERY important to stay alive as a gunner. Without a shield to compound HP on to, every little bit helps. The other charm stats are DP (defense) and HV (hit evasion)

http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/x...ist/002_03.png
Every time you level up in TO, you are given 4 points to allocate to a stat. Along with Build Graphs, I will recommend where to put these 4 points.

2143
The standard build you are given, it's pretty solid. There isn't really anything wrong with this build at all, it's very balanced. I recommend that if you select this build, to go Pure AC.

4141
The glass cannon build. You can do a lot of strange things with this build (Pure AC, Pure HP, Pure LK), but I strongly do not recommend this build. If you are up to the challenge, then by golly, go for it. You'll potentially spend most, if not all of your equipment, trying to make up for the HP loss. This is due to not having a "true" AC buff (one that multiplies), so in reality probably 90%+ of your AC comes from gear. And as you'll learn later, all of a lion's AC more or less is obtained from gear.

3142
Not much to say about this build, it's somewhere between 4141 and 2143. Again, AC is suggested.

1144
The build I chose, in fact. I knew I'd make up more in gear for the AC I'd lose and I took the HP instead. My lion at level 150 could get 16k HP and in the 300 AC if I recall correctly, which isn't half bad. I suggest absolutely nothing other than pure AC for this build.

So why not suggest pure LK? Well, as a scientist, you don't have a lot of skills that may need LK like your hybrid counterpart. Unless you really plan to PvP (and then I'd just suggest cyber hunter anyway), then I wouldn't suggest pure LK.

Grinding?!

Lions have a pretty nice spot to grind - mine beetles! Mine grinding is a big thing these days, the spawns are centralized, but it's best utilized with two people because they tend to spawn in two different areas, but it's DEFINITELY solo-able! So where is the magical grind spot, you ask?

//screenshot coming soon!//

Now you might ask, so how much AC do I need to ohko with Spree? Well, that's 523 AC. But don't forget, 20 gun AP = 1 AC, so you have to calculate how much AC that adds too!

AC needed is thanks to MOEMiyuki

The requirements for 2nd job is base level 50 and TM level 40. Just level normally and you will achieve this easily. After selling your level 40 gift box (for roughly 3-5m, depending on demand), buy a 3x 100k Galder Cheques from Andrew in Megalopolis Bank. Afterwords, go to Inventor Gale either in Caballa Relics Town or Room of Job Administrator 1 in Megalopolis.

http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/x...ist/005_02.png
The reason why you've started this game, to advance to your 3rd job, which is a scientist, the pure lion form. You need to be 130/120 at least to advance to your 3rd job. The wiki entry for 3rd job advancement is http://wiki.ggftw.com/trickster/Tric...ob_Advancement but I'll try and simplify it for you. I will not go through the whole process, just the items and the trials.

You need 1x Ticket of the Valiant, dropped by Cluricans in Caballa Relics Mine, also dropped by Tenter Lion
You need 3x 1 million galder checks from Andrew in Megalopolis bank
You need 1x Water Agate, dropped by Swamp Shark in Black Swamp, also drill 1x Sacred Water while you're here
You need 3x brass, 3x magnetite, 3x magic powder, and 3x glass piece dropped by Brass Knight, Iron Knight, Bone Magician, and Snow Kid, respectively
Note Brass, magnetite, and magic powder have an especially low drop rate. Either get a friend to help, or hope you get lucky. It can take up to 3 hours to collect everything
You need 1x Harkon. These sell for around 8 million, or can be obtained by - Blacksmith Marx, Precious Jewel (Snow Mine Quest), or obtained from drilling the following fields (according to the ggFTW Wiki): Tapasco Field 1 - Net of Lava, Tapasco Field 2 - Rhythm of Hammer, Tapasco Field 3 - Valley of Flame, Tapasco Field 4 - Stairway to Fire, Tapasco Field 5 - Spicy Dragon Lair, Snow Field 3 - Stairway of Snowflake, Snow Field 4 - Happy New Year, Ice Dungeon 3 - Heart of Crystal, Vamp Dungeon 4 - Center of the Dark. Vamp Dungeon 5 - Resurrection of the Dark

http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/x...ist/005_03.png
Surprisingly, my lion was the easiest of my four characters to advance. Well, maybe not easiest because my cat just dodged everything, but not counting her, he was definitely the easiest. You basically want to use hit and run tactics, alternating double shots+power shots, which combo MAGICALLY. I suggest you use a pet with good HP, an HP innerwear and an HP accessory, and keep stacking HP until you can get like 12k+, but more is better as long as you can kill the monsters in each trial in time. What you'll have problems with, like most people, are leviathans. Just keep up your tactics, try not to be hit, and you too will have a gun toting shota lion running around GUNNING SHAT UP.

Nice guide, Kyzuumi. Both you and Momi have excellent Scientist guides, and they're both very useful; I apologize for saying so Momi, but Kyzuumi's guide is much more pretty. +Rep.

By the way, my (to be) Scientist's build is 4141. It's only a 75 AC gain compared to a pure 1144 AC build at level 400, but it's nice seeing your AC go up +1 every two levels instead of the usual four. In my opinion, it's a great build for people who like a little challenge and don't like things too easy. Also, you can have just an belt/accessory that has HP on it and be totally fine for PvM. Bossing is another story, though.

I tried to make that point (riskier build for players looking for something a little less easy), but maybe it didn't really come across as such like I wanted to. I'll try to make it a bit more clear ~ I actually found it hard to describe the different lion builds as the extreme ones (4141 and 1144) were the only ones with any significant differences and the other builds just being medians.

Thanks for your imput, Vith.

Oh it's okay ^^;; I don't have the same graphical talents as Kyz~

Which reminds me that I need to do some special rehaul to my guide soon.... >O

Oh, you were plenty clear, I just basically stated what I wanted to write really. Also, you are welcome.

I believe you meant to write HP instead of AC there. xP

^ Thanks for pointing that out q_p /fixes

Jon 02-14-2011 12:13 PM

Much better description now, thanks! If Scientists do eventually end up getting an AC buff (even 15% would be a godsend), I believe that 4141 would be a lot better choice than 1144. However, since this would be unfair to other gunners (thus a 99.9% chance of it not happening), I do agree that most people would be happy with a 1144 build.

pho20 02-14-2011 07:34 PM

I am kind of curious to see how well a 1144 plays out cause im sure you wont have to worrying about spamming hp pots as soon as you get hit as a 4141. I am a 4141 and made it to lvl 248. Its not so bad in the end cause equips make up for some hp loss (although not too much if your like me and have ac equips). Since you can pretty much ohko monsters training isnt a problem.

Anyways nice guide Kyzuumi, nice display and information. Seen your other guides and love the format and style. BTW, question: lets say I have a guardian with shield breaker, is there any need for me to get a shield breaker? Will the guardians shield breaker stack up with my shield breaker or what?

Queen 02-14-2011 07:44 PM

I have no idea about guardians, you're better making a post in TO Q&A to see if debuffs stack.

Dang at 150 you had over 16k hp and 400 AC.

Those stats are hax and NOT normal for lions around 150.
I own the pirate set (Which most lions will never even complete) and my AC and HP are at 425 and 12k at 210.
I have no clue how good your equipment was but sad to say it's not anywhere near average.
