Default How and what's the proper way to use machine gun/vulcan?

I have played SDGO for so long and experienced many type of weapon, but even now there is just one type of weapon I'm having a very difficult time to use it well - machine gun or vulcan.

Can someone good at it share some insight?

Do you do it with manual? Auto? Or bit of both?

My main problems are:

- When using manual: unlike beam, I have to constantly point the lockon on the target, which can get shaky at times

- When using auto: I used this more, but unless I'm hitting a big or MA type ms, the result is often that I rely on auto too much that I miss most of the time, and even wasted so many ammo

- When shooting, I tend to jump up to shoot from better visible angle, which makes me a big target that don't move much in air, if I didn't jump that I stayed on ground, the situation is much alike...since I won't be doing any major movement like dashing (since my constant aiming sucks)

- I know you need to be more open to deal greater damage with it, so in crossfire, suffering several damage seems unavoidable, but more than often I found that if I managed to deal high damage to the enemy, so did he manage on me too...makes me feel like MG/Vulcan's battle's like you wiped other's HP in exchange of your own

I find machine gun quite fine in other shooting game, I have no idea why I can't adjust it in SDGO instead...any good tips? :/

Bunny hop moving side to side. Try to auto-lock! If I can do it you can too!

Buy a good accurate mouse and do the circle strafe method -Cough Armored Core-.

When you says auto lock, do you mean by using it completely not letting it go, or adjust the lock like you do with beam type weapons?

I usually use MG with auto lock from suits such as W0 or W0 EW. But I realize that when moving or when ur falling from the sky or if the target is jumping. It is best to manual or semi manual(tuck your cursor upward) so it will follow the movement of the target.

Eh i don't use Auto aim, I use Rocks with mg's sooo i usually circle around an opponent while using mg then hitting with melee when out, it really helps to hit em in the back too

well I don't Manual too much anymore with MGs though I probably really should. anyway now a days I full auto, people jumping usually isn't a problem since I have a happen of tracing them by jumping with them.

as for the trading damage thing, hop around more and keep you self from getting hit.

If at all possible go for the crit, also be willing to use MGs to support an ally, it's really useful in that aspect.

and just a bit of advice, for the sake of ammo purposes if your not doing anytihng and are running low of ammo, just empty the clip out so that by the time you face another enemy you'll have a full clip.

I suggest you use a Zaku to get a feel for MGs *perferably either Zaku 2 FZ or CR Zaku 2 FZ*

Use the DS series for vulcans :>

Use Heavyarms series for Machine Guns

Unless you don't wanna spend so much, then use the Zakus.

Who cares as long as the unit and the weapon set fits.
This means:
Wing zero, zaku II CU, DS, whatever = ok
This does not mean:
Gelgoog Marine

But if ur going to use gelgoog marine, i wont stop u.
You'll still get good practice for MG.
But i wont guarantee that u'll have any fun.
