Default Effects of spec increase skills on damage of NT-blasts

Pretty interesting article. I have quite a few spec-bombers in my arsenal (including my dear little CR Doggy which many should have faced already), and I think this is important enough to share to you guys.

We have long known that the damage dealt by NT blast is dependent on the amount of added points you've placed in spec, and also affected by whether the blast crits or hits the shield. But is it affected by skills that boosts your spec damage?

Test is done here: €�ƒ—€‘•T骨碰Š…殺覺†’ @SD ‹ˆ Online “ˆ•� - 巴“ˆ†‰

The article is basically testing on whether skills like spec-awakening will increase the damage done due to NT blast. Too bad the tester did not equip latent potential, but the damage difference is significant enough.



Units used to test:





Without spec-awakening, front:


Without spec-awakening, back:




With spec-awakening, front:


With spec-awakening, back:




Which basically means that NT blast will deal damage proportional to the increase of the damage of your special. That also means that it will be affected by your skills and etc.

I think you are still better off using full spec units (unless your Rau Dinn goes that route), but I guess it won't hurt to have an extra option.

All I know now is how incredible my Jagd Doga is going to be.

you do know C spec points dont affect NTP?
only OC spec points do
that and spec awakening

this was found like...months ago

I am not too sure about that. From what I see on Bahamut, it is said that C and OC both affects. I can test it, but I need someone to test with me. Doesn't make sense for custom not to affect though, since the NT blasts exists way before OC is implemented, if I remember right.



Also, according to another article on Bahamut, spec's damage calculation is

(spec on chart)/0.006 + 2950 = damage

So for GP02's 30.3, damage is 30.3/0.006 + 2950 = 8000.

May not be totally accurate, but good to keep in mind.

interesting....

and yes ntp was here before oc, we even had a same thread about this waaaayyyyy back(after oc implemented tho)

but its nice of you to post this cause i know alot of newer members to this forum have no idea how the stuff works

c spec doesnt affect it
unless it has been patched to do so
NTP existing before OC just means that the only way to increase its damage before that was the spec awakening skill part

Thanks to VisorI for enabling me to carry out the test. Please give him the thanks he deserves (rep or whatever).



First test
My suit: Zaku I Commander equipped with latent potential
VIsorI's suit: W0-EW without custom points assigned

No custom points assigned (front and back)



4 custom points assigned (front and back)



Conclusion: Custom points affect NT blasts. Burned me about 10k to do all the stats reassignments to my OC6 spec bomber. ;_;



Second Test
My suit: OC5 Jagd Doga equipped with spec card
VIsorI's suit: W0-EW without custom points assigned



Critical at back with only latent potential skill


Critical at back with latent + funnel skill


Critical at back with latent + funnel + spec card

Conclusion: Inconclusive. If latent affects NT blasts in maximizing the damage, then Spec card do affect NT blasts (more for Bahamut forum). But is there a cap or something? Also, Jagd Doga is one hell of a sexy spec bomber if NT blasts are used.



Third Test
My suit: G3-AR
VIsorI's suit: Rezel
Both crits.




Comparison


Conclusion: Latent potential does nothing to the damage of NT-blasts.



Last Test
My suit: Zaku I Commander equipped with spec increase

Conclusion: Given the erratic nature of the damage of NT-blast, I cannot be 100% sure on whether spec card increases the damage of NT-blasts. However, judging that the damage has increased significantly for both times, it should.

Is this a coincidence? Maybe. But I'll say that there's an upper limit to the amount of damage that can be dealt by NT-blasts.

That's a one time bug that applies only to the OC chips obtained from the quest that is newly implemented.
