I'm interested in trying s4 out, but it seems a little hard to kill others. Is it slow paced? cash-shop based? I want to know these sort of things before I play it and end up having to fork out $10 a month just to be competitive.

Well I remember reading somewhere that the cash shop guns are vastly superior to the free ones. The $10 was plucked out of thin air. In most MMOs I've played they try and bring something out every 2-4 weeks "worth"spending on, hence what normally turns into a regular purchasing pattern for those who play constantly.
I'm playing BFH right now and although it's a different game, there seem to be common themes/aspects. Perhaps I'll try it some day, is the download big?
Sure. You don't even need to get involved with the AP shop to get good stuff and have fun. It's easy to earn PEN (game currency) and you can spend them in the PEN shop to buy better gear. Play with someone you know so you can work together on staring missions (quests) etc.
I dont use cash shop items and i can kill pretty decent. Just be weary when you use a mindshock weapon.. people hate it and apparently there is a distance bug still on it ... that can shock people from a longer distance than what its capable of.. *shrugs* .. i sometimes use it to piss people off.

It does more damage, 20 per shock and has a longer distance range now
It's for sure worth downloading xD. I went through a phase where I downloaded like 20 online games to see if any of them were worth playing. Most of them I played like 30 min. before I got bored. S4 however seemed unique and smooth enough to try out, so when I did...I ended up playing hours upon hours in the first week haha. Got to lvl20 I think in 1 week in the first go, then realized I messed up my pen stuff, so had to make a new account ><; but that's all fixed now with the practice weapons xD.
I've been playing a while now, but it's still awesome to play xD especially if you play with friends or play with a good team ^^. MS of course sux hard as everyone uses it cuz it doesnt require aim, and its pretty strong. But besides some lag issues, the game is one of the best online games out there in my opinion. Haven't stumbled across any better free online shootings games yet xD. So give it a try~.

Rofl this game is no where near "slow-paced"
and AP(cash) items don't make a big impacted at all
its stronger but doesn't make a real difference
yeah there are some cheap weapons and stuff
but its not something you couldn't deal with
Lag = #1 game killer
So yeah try it out,
you won't know for yourself if its a great game
until you try it for yourself xDD

LIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE i played long ago with no cash no nothing i was standard and got decent kills (between first 3 ones in each round) besides i was playing a lil laggy and had a kd of 4.3 or something like that

Getting cash shop items does not guarantee Auto Aim. Unless its like a +14 sentry

Also AP doesnt really effect the outcome of a game its really based on skills. I faced a team with 4 of them full AP set ups and i still stacked 250pts that game and came out with a win for my team. Its all aim/teamwork based if you have nice teamwork and good aim then your set for life.

Cash shop gives you godly weapons and ely boost you know. The usual cash shop shit.
But I have none. && I can easily kill people. && u can use Pen to do a random thing called fumbi. to get you random beefed up equips for random amount of time limits ranging between a couple of hours to permanent. So u dont really need to purchase cash shop to be good and/or gain god equips. Just time and effort like anything else.
I love S4 tho Great game. Very fun for me right now
