Pissed off at my bank!!

Okay......so yesterday I check and had $100+ of spending money. I was like okay....good enough and fiance had $32. We went out to eat and then went to Walmart. Altogether we spent $110 which fiance helped with the bill so I should be around $80 or so right? WRONG! I go to my bank's website and frikkin' A! They charged me for the Walmart purchases FIRST so I got charged $51 which brought my checking to negative and then the savings overdrafted so I was $30 or so short (I dunno how much) because of the frikkin' negative in checkings which shouldn't have happened and then they charged me the $31 for the restaurant which brought my entire account to -$18. I am pissed as hell right now.

First off, why would they frikkin charge me for the WALMART shopping when I shopped at 10:30 PM over there and the restaurant charge was at 7 PM?!?! If they would've done it chronologically...I would've had $20 left for the movies next week but f*** no, they had to screw the whole thing up and frikkin' put me in the f***ing negative! GD!! I'm angry!

-pats- i sorry

CountBlood 06-25-2008 12:06 PM

Leenalia 06-25-2008 12:09 PM

Stop it Alex @_@;;

What bank is this?

Medoria 06-25-2008 01:24 PM

Uhh , i don't understand, why would the order matter?
I mean you have 100 in the bank

You go to walmart and spend 80 dollars
and go out to eat and spent 30
no matter what
100-80-30 == 100 -30 -80 = -10
Now what I am forced to assume you mean is you cashed some check or something before you went out that gave you 100 dollars in your account? but the charge came before your check went through?
This makes sense since often it takes up to 3 days for deposits to clear- even though they may show up beforehand (they show up so that people don't freak out and think the bank isn't processing them).

In any case, it's not the bank's fault what order they appear. Different companies take diff amounts of time to process payments. Your bank i'm sure does not differentiate between any of them, their credit server most likely is completely automated and just process them as they are sent and approved to it. :o

Leenalia 06-25-2008 01:35 PM

Ugh no.

I had a total of $104. Walmart was $51, the restaurant was $31.
Altogether it was $82...therefor I should have $22 left right? Wrong, I don't have $22 I have -$18. Ugh my bank does this to me all the time, it never does this to my fiance. Bank is Bank of America.

When I logged on today my checking was -$40-ish and I had $20 in savings...thus leaving me at -$18 instead of just $22.

Solemn 06-25-2008 01:37 PM

WOW! Isn't there any way the staff could help? Or were they too incompetent? God, just reading your hindrance vexed me. >.>

Medoria 06-25-2008 01:42 PM

Then i'm not sure why your rant is about the order? shouldn't you be complaining about them overcharging? >> *confuzzled*

NoeJeko 06-25-2008 02:01 PM

This is why I keep a minimum of $1k in my checking account.

BatgirlZKE 06-25-2008 03:39 PM

Were the charges to your account correct? Maybe the restaurant charged you twice?

I have Bank of America. They are VERY unforgiving with overdrafts. They won't even consider refunding the fee, even if it wasn't your fault. I lost $140 this way, around Christmas too

Bank is Bank of America.

I highlighted your problem. BoA is one of the worst banks ever, right up there with Wells Fargo and Washington Mutual (WaMu).

Many banks make their money by screwing you over, and BoA does this best, even by selling your bank info away for a measly 30 cents.

It'd be a miracle if they helped you, they'll likely give you the run around and deposit your money late, so they can overdraft you more, I recommend trying to fix it and not spending anything until you get it in writing that there's money in the account.

WhatThePhuc 06-25-2008 07:57 PM

OMFG!
i fell your pain seriously
i JUST FINISHED paying $115 in overdraft fees,
which i didn't even know about til the 4th fee
and the 4th fee didn't even show up on my account for a while, and then it did -_-

i use Bank of America btw

I already said it was a problem, I seriously recommend you go to another bank.

WhatThePhuc 06-25-2008 08:02 PM

o.O

Mysteria 06-25-2008 08:03 PM

Lol fail bank I see. But yeah that sucks, there should be like a clause against banks and their clients about screwing them over.

They've sucked for more than a decade, and if you've had an account with them @ 98~07 or later, your account data is floating out there somewhere.
