A Radio?

I've thought about this, actually. The holdup on this will be bandwidth; internet radio requires an insane amount of bandwidth. Right now, with the site losing money, it doesn't make sense to upgrade bandwidth to a point where this is possible (an estimated additional $200/month).

Nevertheless, it's a great idea and will be entertained once the site starts breaking even on revenue.

I followed up on this idea. I know one of the ops at Anime Academy Radio and asked him what it would take to do a radio for us. Basically, you need 40 GB/month of bandwidth for each listener spot.

Based on our current bandwidth allocation, we could support 37.5 users per month on a radio - if we shut down the forums LOL.

So, unless we start making more money this is a no-go for now =[

I am kinda against hearing Kumatora yelling orz repeatedly on the radio... Lol.

We'd have criteria for how to act on air. It won't happen for a long time - this is going to cost a lot and I may need a new server to handle it.

If we could only support 37 people then I don't think it will ever be possible, I mean the number of users the site has will never make enough profit to balance the bandwidth usage costs.

If anything, I'll rather we have the option of adding sound files into MMOG.

PM me with info on this. As long as it isn't disruptive to the community I'll entertain anything that may draw more revenue. Google ads is looking like it may end up covering current server costs, but we'd need a LOT more traffic for it to cover anything of this magnitude.
