how about being able to add a song to our profiles.
so someone can enjoy your favourite tune while viewing your profile.
i think it would be pretty cool.
but would this be too much of a myspace rip off?

Might be a problem for those with slow internet, unless you have a player that doesn't just start the music automatically, and you have to press play.

Are you thinking of something like an embedded internet radio or playlist (like IMEEM) where people can click on a mini-player? That would be cute, but personally, I think it's unnecessary...? You also have to note that it might not be technically possible given this version of vB.


...BUT if you're talking about auto-play the moment the page loads.... HELL NO.

- It lags slow connections and wastes server resources.
- Not everyone who visits the page likes the music or even wants to hear anything. Imagine being in the office, you forgot to turn your speakers off, and I click on a profile to lurk/infract... And suddenly that JIBUUUN WOOOO crap blasts out. OH SH--?
- It's intrusive and just.plain.annoying.

There are legality issues here and we are not licensed to host the music people would be adding. It's a good suggestion but we'd need legal authorization to host these files and that's going to cost us probably more than the entire staff's combined net worth.
