Gen 2 confirmed for last gen of good looking starters.

What the shit seriously, these starters look bloody horrible and the male char still looks horrible. Them being more "grown up" doesn't change a thing considering the only dialogue choices you get in the game are yes and no and players are forced to the game designers code of morality. They better at least be getting rid of the need for crap like Cut, Flash and Strength as I can't even progress in Kanto anymore due to that crap and I refuse to waste a team slot on some level 6 just to get into the Celadon Gym or add HM move slots that can only be used in the overworld unless moved to a normal move slot.

Terrible starters. I feel much rage. Hell, at least gens 3 and 4 had ONE starter that looked decent, these three look like ass. :/


Watch them be excellent statwise though. It pretty much always happens with ugly ones (Sceptile, Infernape).

I also really hope they remove the HM crap. Or make each Pokemon have one or two HM-only slots for overworld use or something (while still keeping the 4 regular slots of course)... ugh. I hated hated fighting Red in HG/SS because guess what? You need 4 HMS TO GET TO HIM. So either you find a Pokemon that can learn all four (Rock Climb, Rock Smash, Surf, Waterfall) or teach them to your team members. I couldn't even use all six of my trained Pokemon for him because of that - refused to teach anyone those useless moves (minus Surf.. Waterfall is a good move but wouldn't go on my special attacker water) so I had to withdraw a Bibarel and let him be the slave while leaving Roserade behind. /sigh

Edit: Oh my god the pig starter better have badass evolutions to compensate for its terrible design or else I won't even touch this game. (ok maybe I will but I probably won't choose fire as my starter anymore)

yeah I dont understand why people hate the male design. it looks like he's more based off of recent trends in real life around here.

and I mean the starters dont look bad, but they dont look that great either... maybe they'll grow on me the more i stare at them O_O!
