For the first time in history, a man has been cured of HIV. The patient, 42-year old Timothy Ray Brown was first hospitalized at Berlin at Germany’s Charite Universitatsmedizin hospital after he contracted acute myeloid leukemia in 2007. He underwent aggressive chemotherapy that destroyed the majority of his immune cells and finally, went through a risky stem-cell transplant that appears to have completely cured Brown of HIV.

It's easier to refine something to be better, than trying to figure out what works in the first place.
Now that they have found the cure, it shouldn't be that much harder to make it viable.

yeah and the article on cnn said that the mutation in the bone marrow that the guy he got the transplant from only occurs in 1% of white population and even less in black population. something like that. i'm not too sure what that means but that sounds rare.

It cures HIV perhaps, but I don't think this will be a procedure you'll see applied in hospitals in the near future.

That's a very costy cure. Chemo that destroys your WBC and you have to get stem cell restoration.

You're pretty much destroying yourself and repairing your body with another body. I'm guessing this cost a fortune.
Now they know what may stop the triggers, they need to use something besides more stem cells. Otherwise, we'd be fighting over more fetus....
