How did you managed to train yours to be so docile(?)? just curious…
Quite a number of factors affect how a ferret will treat you. When a ferret bites you (hard or soft), it can mean one of the following:
- "Hey play with me damnit! I'm bored! RAWR!"
- "Can you put me down please?"
- "Hey Hey Hey! I don't like the way you'r holding me!"
- "I'm hungry, FEED MEEEEE!"
- "I'm thirsty......"
It's their way of communicating with you, finding out what your ferret wants is kinda trial and error really. If you really don't want them biting you, you have to be stern. Like really speak loudly, let the little guy know that biting you hard is unacceptable. Worse case scenario, grab him/her by the scruff of the neck with 1 hand while supporting the body with the other, face to face and hiss loudly.
If your ferret bites you without making any kind of growling or hissing noise, most of the time it just wants to play with you. It takes time for them to learn their own bite strength and what point you can tolerate it, but they will learn. Just continue providing them with attention, let them know that they can trust you (touch noses with the little buggers =^.^=).
Obviously the ferret wasn't too happy being in the guy's pants which drove it to bite the poor guy.
