ALBERT LEA, Minn. (AP) — Two teenage girls who worked at a nursing home have been charged with abuse, accused of taunting, spitting on and groping the breasts and genitals of residents who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia disorders.
According to the criminal complaint, filed Monday, 19-year-old Brianna Broitzman and 18-year-old Ashton Larson laughed earlier this year as they spat in residents’ mouths, poked and grabbed them, and at times mocked them until they screamed.
Broitzman and Larson, who worked as part-time aides at the home, have been charged as adults.
Larson’s father disputed the charges against his daughter in a statement issued to and read on NBC’s “Today” show Thursday.
Amazing, Juveniles may get off from these grave abuses but being charged as adults,
they should serve a minimum jail time of atleast 1 week - 1 month
+ probation after serving their time in prison >__>
People like this make me sick. I'm glad we never sent my great grandma to a nursing home, and when she had to be in one for therapy I made sure I was there every day so they couldn't pull crap like this. >:
Human history is the story of complaisance. While disaster is fresh in our memory, we take precautions. But as the memory of disaster recedes, we start to take risks.
Apparently stuff like this happens quite a bit. There are usually pretty strict conditions for hiring to prevent people like this from getting into these positions, but I guess a few manage to get by. There are all types of sick people in this world.
