It's been out for over a day now.
Anyone else here binged it and no regret the fact that there's only 15 episodes?
I'm a bit iffy on this season. I mean, I enjoyed it all but I'm only about 80% happy with how it was.
Structurally, it started out pretty poor. Fortunately, by the third episode it started to pick up and helped me enjoy the rest of the season with all the cuts and additions to previous scenes -- it made it a lot more fun to watch, in my opinion. I know a couple people who were annoyed by how it was set up in such a strange way, but it was all good in the end.
In general, I just wish there was more. More character time, more story, more plots being closed, just more episodes really. I felt like the season gave many plots to each character and watching them intertwine was so fun. What I didn't like, though, was how abrupt it seemed to end not giving the conclusion I wanted to see at the end. I'm still questioning what had actually happened throughout everything, so I feel like I'm forced to watch all 15 episodes all over again, which I had already intended on doing in the first place. These writers and their jokes hidden in each scene, man; but I wanted to re-watch the whole episode just for the jokes and satisfaction of watching a well-written show more than once and not because I didn't catch the plot lines.
All-in-all, I'm happy with how it turned out. Still a bit scattered and unorganized for my liking, but I've always been an Arrested Development fan so I can't just turn a cold shoulder and refuse the kisses.
I do remember reading something about a movie still being in the stratosphere, although I'm not too confident it'll be out any time soon. These actors and actresses have done so much since Arrested Development was off the air (which was why the season was organized this way, in the first place), so trying to schedule everyone at once to get a movie together might be the reason why it's not going to happen.
As Maeby pointed out: maybe a TV show? I mean, the season felt like it didn't have a complete ending, so I'm hoping for at least a final episode yet to be released. Or maybe just a for-TV-movie to wrap everything up? That actually sounds more plausible.
The ending felt so abrupt, but I guess that's just a homage to the title -- I'm just hoping the movie will actually wrap up everything and not leave the show completely hanging when it ends.
I was confused in the beginning too, but then I began to enjoy the interweaving stories of each character and how they're all connected in some way. Also all the social/pop culture cameos were fun to pick out (iPhones, Facebook, sorority girl email, Anonymous, etc.) and I enjoyed seeing some celebrity cameos and the return of some of the secondary characters (Steve Holt, Annyoung, Tony Wonder, etc.).
All in all I give the season a 8/10 and I'll be eagerly awaiting the movie coming out next year (?)
