MMORPG Convention: Would you attend?

If there were an MMORPG convention, akin to Anime Expo, Fanimecon, Otakon, etc, would you attend? This is assuming pricing is along the same lines ($35-60 for a 3-4 day pass, you find your own lodging and transportation). The convention would be held in San Jose, California, USA.

The poll doesn't accurately reflect my situation.

-Adds in "depending to location"-

NoeJeko 10-10-2008 10:52 PM

To San Jose, CA.

... the 3rd option was what you added!

Xpecial 10-10-2008 10:56 PM

^wut? no.

O dam. Google maps says 5 hours ):

Summer road-trip, anyone?

Kotarou 10-10-2008 10:59 PM

At the moment I pick the third one... *starts saving money*.

Or maybe I could find a sponsor. *gets shot*

Moofey 10-10-2008 11:50 PM

If I could ever find the money, you could count me in on it.

WhatThePhuc 10-11-2008 02:59 AM

i got the money and i'm willing to drive
i'm planning on driving other people too if they're interested
gotta save up if this happens

Skwie 10-11-2008 04:34 AM

I'd totally attend.

That is, if I won the lottery before fall 2009, and therefore had the money to afford a plane ticket. ;_;

Catharsis 10-11-2008 04:52 AM

I'm on the other side of the planet. ;o;

Vegeance 10-11-2008 05:11 AM

I would attend if I had money..and time.

DemiGodDanzig 10-11-2008 06:28 AM

hmm,maybe?
if it was after i finished school and i had a job then yah
i have old friends in California that go every year pretty much, and it would be a good excuse to go
so it would depend on the situation, but id totally go if i could

HienRose 10-11-2008 10:18 AM

I would love to go, but the location and the fact that its a con, will cut into my savings that im accumulating for another special event.

NoeJeko 10-11-2008 10:20 AM

I think everyone's thinking... WAY too big.

There's no way we can get to the size, reach, or content a huge convention like AX has. It'll have to start off small and work its way up. Sponsors aren't just going to pour money into an event they've never heard of - so the bulk of the money to put the event on will come from ticketing/local advertisements.

... the goal would be to eventually become something like that, heh .__.

Shoo 10-11-2008 10:21 AM

lol, i live SO close to the location, but i have no money. i wish i could get a job:py07:

AnnabelleMarie 10-11-2008 11:23 AM

i have no car but i do have moneys :py01:

Carmasa 10-11-2008 11:43 AM

I would try my hardest to get there.D:

-EDIT:
I think a place less rural to everyone would be better. ><
Like LA or so.

WhatThePhuc 10-11-2008 12:03 PM

lol if it's gonna be in la, then less work for me
also, i think it should be in august
september is when school starts for alot of people

mamoru 10-11-2008 01:11 PM

It's really close to me.. but no money.. Maybe I can make some during the summer of next year, though. =x

Maybe for starters, try doing panels at big conventions? It would be a smaller-scale project and would give you a bit of a feel of what it would be like to do a full-out convention. Just a thought.

DemiGodDanzig 10-11-2008 01:40 PM

Well,Noe works in full scale conventions,so i reckon he knows how it feels like
