I haven't played a Rayman game in ages (the last time I did, I had a Pentium II), but I have heard complaints from loyal fans about how there hasn't been a real Rayman game out in ages. Instead, the fans got Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party. After playing through it, where's the problem? This game's psychotic, equal parts insanity and genius, and the most fun I've had with a game that's a collection of minigames in a long time. This Wii title has probably been overlooked during the holiday buying...

Before the days of grind before you waffle and pass out, I had two games that would basically kill my weekend without mercy. Civilization and X-Com. To me, this was worse than vodka and Red Bull mixed together, because it made my free time disappear like a fresh tray of lobster at a Chinese buffet on a Saturday night. Both of these games are hideously addicting, and if I didn't completely master them, I would likely still be playing them. They had a bit of a learning curve, but when the ways of...

I owned a few Contra games. Most notably, Contra: Hard Corps for the Genesis. It's one rare instance where the American release is harder than the Japanese one. You died in one hit instead of two, and all the cheats were disabled (yes, even the Konami code). It's one of the most cruel and unforgiving games I've ever played, and dying at certain points made the game so hard and unbearable I was almost certain to never make the same dumb mistake ever again. Unlike the other games in the franchise,...

This thought comes to mind whenever you play through Golden Axe. When I first got my Genesis, I played this game to death. Long before I was hijacking Leviathans and banshees, I kicked a club guy off his dragon and used it to breathe fire on his sorry previous owner, who tasted doom while trying to get back up. This game was a lot of firsts for me. It was the first game I played where I could summon lightning,...

Was an Atari 2600. I can remember having this back when I was 6, and just hooking the thing up and keeping it hooked up was a pain. You had this little black box you had to hook to the console and then to the TV, and chances are more than one person decided to go with tape just to keep the U connectors (or whatever they are called) together.

The details about how I got this console were sketchy,...
