Starting combos with skills.

For all of you experienced pvp'ers, or just pvp'ers in general, how do you feel about starting combos with skills? Biggest example being Yuki, who can teleport into CBD to start a combo. Do you feel that it's wrong to do so or is it perfectly acceptable?

I ask because I just finished fighting someone who began taunting me because i would start combos with CBD or glacier or fist. I wanna know if I've been playing "Cheap" this entire time. >_>

I think everyone has their own style. Just like you I like to play as fair as possible so it actually makes the match fun and it doesn't end instantly. People do and people dont, as for my yuki. I play by the following rules.

-No Freezes
-No Spam
-No OP Damage
-Start combos with melee
-No melee infinite

I think it really depends on what your style is.

Any PvP is a 1st hit war pratically, if teleport>CBD gives you the best 1st hit you can produce then go for it. It ain't cheap unless your mental prison says it is D:

Well, every character has different ranges and catching skills which can balance that range out. Without those skills, longest range wins. (Poor Tia, everyone but Sieg has super easy 1cko's now and Tia can't catch for crap)

Would you consider Provoke cheap?
VS'ing a Krieg, it would be your only way to approach him.

While I hate facing Yukis for the very reason they mainly use teleport to CBD, it's not really cheap. It's their best opening and I don't put any negative points on them for doing so. Though I will say that Yuki's damage is crazy and that she is one of the easiest characters to use.

Don't feel bad about starting combos with skills. Yuki has fast casts, 360 degree skills, freezes, absurdly high damage, quick cooldowns, quick speed and so on. Her flaw is having no invincibility skills and her primary defense is her instant cast skills (her offense). Best chance to beat a good Yuki is to bait their spells, at least that's what I do.

How else would all those Dainns utilize RoF and FB snipes? What would I do with my level 1 HS if I couldn't spam it around every time it's off cd?

Certain classes have horrible melee starters and their skills are there for a reason.

With every SINGLE character, I always use melee before a skill.

Eir~AASAA(AA)(dAS) Holy Spirit/AASAAAAS Tears.
Dainn~No BCB + CBD/FoL/Fire Orb.
Lime~No freezing lime shung.
Yuki~Use melee before a skill every time. :x
Krieg~No Super Force/Dfist/Boomerang/Fire Crush.
Arien~No Scattering/Violent/Judgement.
Ryan~No ground freeze/amp rail gun/Iron bomb
Kali~No Recit/Rhapsody/Discord/Lullaby on the ground. :x

its all fair game imo~ no matter how annoyin it may be! though i say this i feel bad if i buff in non tournament 1v1s w/o reason x.x been trying to create reasons to use em but i gave up xD

anyway! like said spam/melee are both fine starters and everythings legal imo, the only things that im really against are 1 hit kos, or pretty dam near it xD and playing peek a boo behind mines/jellies/dodge/etc all day.. it just gets boring, quick =/

if u'r NOT fighting against another yuki, as long as u don't whine about other ppl using certain skills(bless skills) you should be fine.

if theyre allowed to use it, no matter how over-powered it is, its there, its allowed and its fair as far as the games concerned for the moment~ that doesnt mean youre not allowed to think the other way though, this is my opinion~

also, i dislike 1 hit combos and i dislike hiding behind things but if you ask the person who does it usually they wont really care what you think, and theyll use it since its there. some even enjoy your suffering so ive decided to try and live with it~
atm i have trouble with certain kalis.. [hihi lunar >=O] ryans and more.. but isnt it better to try and learn some way to handle it rather than complain? [course letting off steam sometimes aint bad xD]
and if you dont want to do/accept certain things, then dont and try to beat the opponent while playing the way you desire ney?

Pretty much what I think, too. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

I've basically come to the conclusion that people will find anything to complain about if it doesn't work to their advantage. Limiting myself through silly rules such as "Omg no skill startrz!" isn't my idea of fun, and to me seems like a way for people to be lazy and not try to find ways around their opponents playstyle.

The only complaint I ever really understood was about people spamming, but the words "Spammer", "Spamming", and "Spam" are used so loosely these days that it's not even worth the time to listen to complaints like that (See : Infinite'ing on Yuki = Spam).

fair? imo its unfair if people have to restrict them self to match someone under their skills coz its unfair? if a class is IMBA they will most likely get complains and end up being nerfed. as long your not being 1cko whats the problem o.o. its like ''no heal'' all over.

It's perfectly fair to start combo with skills. Every class in lunia can do it. So nope, you are not playing it cheap.

@Kreig~I restrict myself because I have this crazy thought that Balanced_PvP should be...well...BALANCED. That, and I like fair games. :> Also, restricted games between two Dainns, for example, are MUCH better than spamming BCB/DDB/RB FoL and Orb. It's too easy.

Same with skill starters for Yuki. Just makes it way too easy.
