the window name says: Lunia - Keep Reaching That Rainbow? is that the magical program that will open these files?

or is it possible that allm made this a unique file type to prevent other people from stealing their ideas? o.o

Hm! It seems more like the saved name of the file...

I tried to open .SkinnedAnim/Skinnedmesh in 3dsmax, but it simply says "File open Failed" with the name of the file following after that!

They could make them in 3dsmax, lightwave, maya, blender, in fact it doesn't matter what editor they use, but the plugin they use for exporting the format.
So what you need is to write an another converter to reconvert them in a format readable by one of those editors, like someone did for GunZ maps.

You could use a Hex Editor to change the values to make it a blender file or whatever but that'd require plenty of knowledge about Hex editing.

Most likely it will take ages by that way.

It's only a matter of analyzing the file structures, after then a plugin/converter is an easy piece of cake to make.

But still you have to find anyone with enough patience to do it.

They are using the Lunia Developer Software, it decrypts and allows editing of the file contents. No one ever gets these programs, and sometimes it's custom made.

If I'm not mistaken most game companies do this nowadays. They use unique file types that are associated only with there game to prevent piracy of there material and etc. Although they're some dedicated people out there who will build their own decrypters. (I.E. Crackers/Hackers)
