Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer .
I'm a fan of his humour and usage of imagery within the book (usually enlarging text and such), and this book brings about a serious topic in a manner that doesn't scream "BE A VEGETARIAN" in your face.

Best book I've read in a long, long time. This is the sequel to Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit which was made into an anime by Production IG known as Seirei no Moribito.
