Falling asleep in the day/Can't sleep at night
It's not jet lag, but it's been like this since maybe around September.
I can't sleep well at night, as in waking up, going back to sleep, and when I finally can get into a deep sleep, it's already when I'm supposed to wake up.
In the afternoon are my hardcore classes, but no matter how hard I try, I fall asleep during them. I could have my mind set on it and keep myself busy or something but that doesn't work. I'd really rather not resort to coffee...
I told my parents about this, my mom just wrote it off saying "Oh, you're a teenager" and my dad is like "oh we should get a sleep study." Knowing my dad, that really means never.
Is it normal ._.? Or amidoingitwrong

a poor sleep environment (too loud, too brightly lit)
anxiety or stress
depression
sleep apnea (a condition where individuals struggle to breath in their sleep)
periodic limb movement disorder (frequent leg twitches in sleep)
painful conditions
certain medical conditions such as heartburn
asthma or heart disease, certain medications
excessive use of stimulants such as caffeine and nicotine
I don't think you have any of these... I think you just need a good, rejuvenating sleep.
Google :
In addition, there are other non-sleep related causes for fatigue and sleepiness. These may include medication side effects, substance abuse, depression, fatigue syndromes (such as chronic fatigue syndrome), and hypothyroidism, to name a few. In some cases, no clear cause for sleepiness can be found and the condition is labeled as idiopathic hypersomnia.
To determine if there is sleep-related cause for your problems, a thorough history and physical examination are needed. A referral to a Sleep Specialist by your primary care physician may be necessary to help sort out whether further testing is needed. Once a history and physical examination have been performed, the Sleep Specialist will decide if further evaluation by a sleep study is necessary. If a primary sleep disorder is discovered, you should maintain hope as all of these problems are treatable with a fairly high degree of success. I also recommend that you should consider avoiding driving until sleep issues are addressed. Failing asleep behind the wheel can have grave consequences.

There's a quick solution, but a tad painful. Don't sleep for an entire day. Take coffee if you have to; it actually helps. Drink your lovely caffeine in the MORNING; never after lunch time. :x BY the time 24 hours is over, it should be night. The coffee would have drained out of your system and will give you a massive crash, and you're so exhausted that you'll just keel over on your bed. Set your alarm clock to wake up in the morning, say 7am. Things should fall back in to place.

I get that too sometimes, I just get up, wash my face, then come back to class. That's usually good enough to keep me awake for the class.

I used to do that quite a lot back in college, especially near project deadlines. Except I drank Red Bull~
But just a warning though. It may just be me but every time I crashed at night that way, I had nightmares and/or sleep paralysis.

I find the taste of coffee (and tea) rather disgusting so I never drink it. The only caffeine I ever get is from soft drinks, like Pepsi, but I try not to drink them if I can handle it because they're really bad for you.
What I try to do is somewhat like Cath said; I stay awake throughout the day and keep fighting my tiredness (although it is painful sometimes) and then try to crash at like 9 PM or 10 PM. Sure, you don't get much time for studying (lol La Tale) but it really helps prepare you for the next day if you get a good night's and make a habit out of it. Be sure to keep your room as dark as possible, and do noooooooot use your laptop in bed. I remember learning awhile back that people that use their laptops in bed don't ever sleep as well. They said that your bed/bed room should only be for two things: sleeping and making love, LOL. It's because you want your bed room to be a relaxing place to always feel sleepy in, and if you use your laptop, it's like you're taking your stress with you to bed.
Another thing that will make it hard to sleep is if you text or even look at your phone/laptop screen while trying to sleep. Any type of screen like that gets your brain going back into "work mode" which makes it feel like it's time to get up, making it even harder to sleep. If you have a light next to your bed like a lamp or some thing, do not turn it on if you're trying to sleep, 'cause it will have the same effect. Some thing that helps me is to take a piece of paper and a pencil/pen and just start writing whatever's on my mind when I'm trying to sleep. Getting all your stresses out will help you relax and fall asleep better, but it's hard to do this without causing too much light to wake you back up.
Also, make sure you don't drink any caffeine/have any sugar after 6 PM, or it may ruin your whole night.

i always set my favorite music to max volume and takes a while but makes me sleep after hearing the same song 10 times and more. or for me i just do something extreamly boring until i fall asleep. or you could always just use money and try to jet lag your self on purpose so it is normal when you come back to where ever you live xD
