Lower myself?
So, i'll just write the
short version... Should i act stupited? and immature and try to be...more "Guyish"? OR Keep myself at my standards and not be as close to my uh.. "friends" and not have as much fun as i would by lowering myself? [ I'm in a sport... most of them are immature and... well yeah..] |
I don't know it just seems like...
i don't fit in as much...Since, well... I'm me...Besides i've noticed they got along so well with each other, and i mainly just listen, BUT i'm be with them even more since i'm mostly going to be in Varsity. I feel like a..."Kill Joy" something to that affect, and i'm talking about wrestlers around me. Also, i just relized that i just said that guys are immature, and everything... Sorry, i didn't mean every guy is... just some. P.S. I've always had a harder time being around guys than the girls for some odd reason. I'm just not as comfortable as i should be, i feel like some just tolerate me |

Well, if they're not calling you out on it, I don't see a need for you to "dumb" it down to get along with a group of people. Stay the way you are. It doesn't matter if you don't click with them or not, you'll eventually find your group. Life isn't about being everyone's friend and trying to fit in. It's much more than that. Not everyone is born with the same social talent as others. |
Fitting in is overrated. It's better to be unique. And if you adhere to your own standards, you have reason to have pride. If you downgrade yourself just to fit in, you'll find yourself with less respect for yourself. Others will likely respect you less, too.

Along with what everyone said about being yourself, I think a lot of people forget this:
You most likely won't see or remember them after school (whether high school or college. Especially high school though.) If you do keep in touch with any of them, that would be because you guys are friends, and they accepted you for who you are. Don't lower yourself to try to fit in, it's always better to be smart and mature rather than anything else. I can guarantee you, much more people appreciate maturity. |
