He then drags those he captures back to the Shadow Isles for an unimaginably dreadful fate. This is his only purpose.

Little is known about the Chain Warden's past, and many of the details live only in nursery rhymes and campfire tales. They tell of a sadistic jailer from centuries past who took great delight in torturing his wards. Patient and brutal, he used a variety of methods to break his victims' minds before their bodies succumbed to his grisly designs. Chains were the jailer's preferred instruments of terror. Their shrill scrape marked his dreadful approach and promised agony to those he visited. His dark reign went unchallenged until his prisoners escaped during a massive riot. They overwhelmed him, and without ceremony or remorse, hanged him from his own chains. Thus began the unlife of the horrible specter known as Thresh, or so the tales go.

Thresh now haunts the land, leaving an aftermath of horror and despair. However, there is a devious purpose behind his dark machinations, and the meager spirits of average men are insufficient. He seeks stronger souls. Only when he has broken the wills of Valoran's most resilient warriors will he finally have what he needs.

New Champion: Thresh The Chain Warden
Say hello to Thresh, our next champion! According to CertainlyT's PBE introduction, Thresh's ideal roles are support, jungler, and even top lane! Keep on scrollin' and check out this soul stealing bad boy for yourself.
Model viewer shot is pretty bad, he has lots of glow particles and a lantern attached to one of his chains.

Abilities:
( Passive ) Keeper of Souls
Thresh collects the souls of dead enemies by walking near. Souls permanently grant Armor, Magic Resistance, and ability power.

Champions and large minions always drop a harvestable soul. Small minions only sometimes drop a soul.

Thresh does not gain armor and magic resistance per level.
Values are tentative but atm they give 1.00, .99, .98 etc per soul. It stops lowering at .5. Reportedly caps at 137.75 total stats and 255 stacks.
( Q ) Shackle
Passive: Deal 0.5*AD-1 magic damage on each hit that builds up when not attacking.
This value is equal to total souls collected plus up to 80/110/140/170/200% of attack damage, based on the amount of time since his last attack.

Active: Grab an enemy, then pull them to you or leap to them.
Throws out his scythe, dealing 80/110/140/170/200(+0.5*AP) magic damage to the first unit hit and pulling them toward him for 1.5 seconds.

Reactivate this ability to pull Thresh to the bound enemy.
( W ) Lantern Toss
Create a shielding lantern that an ally can use to dash to you.
Throw the Lantern to a point. If an ally near the Lantern clicks it, they pick it up and Thresh pulls both back to him.

Additionally, allies who come near it gain a shield lasting 6 seconds that absorbs up to 60/100/140/180/220(+0.4*AP) damage. Allies can only receive the shield once per cast.
( E ) Sweep
Knock nearby enemies in the direction of your choice.
Deals 65/100/135/170/205 (+0.4*AP) magic damage in a line beginning behind him. Enemies hit are pushed in the direction of the swing, then slowed by20/25/30/35/40% for 1.5 seconds.

Cast forward to push; cast backward to pull.
( R ) The Box
Trap enemies inside walls that slow and deal damage if broken.
Creates a prison of spectral walls around himself. Enemy Champions who walk through a wall suffer 250/400/450 (+1.0 AP) magic damage and are slowed by 99/50% for 2 seconds, but break that wall.

Once one wall is broken, remaining walls deal half damage and slow duration.

More Changes to the HP of Jungle Minions:
Continue the trended from the last few PBE patches, the jungle monsters have been nerfed again. Here are the changes relative to the last PBE patch:

  • Small Lizards HP increased to 303 from 203.
  • Big Wolf HP increased to 1100 from 1000.
  • Big Golem HP increased to 1200 from 1100.

...and here they are again relative to live values:

  • Big Wraith HP increased to 900 from 750.
  • Small Wraiths reduced to 150 from 250
  • Small Wolves reduced to 200 from 300
  • Big Wolf hp increased to 1100 from 900
  • Small Lizards at Red Buff reduced to 303 from 303
  • Small Lizards at Blue Buff reduced to 303 from 303.
  • Small Golem at Double Golems reduced to 300 from 500
  • Big Golem at Double Golems increased to 1200 from 1000.
"Metal Winged" Kayle
While there is no splash, model, or other indication, an interesting new voice over for a "Metal Winged" Kayle ( this is not the finished name, it will change ) skin popped up in this patch. While it isn't a certainty, this voice over has several new lines of dialogue and is probably going to be legendary.



Balance Changes:
Note: These values and changes are relative to the values found in the last PBE update.

Champions:
Amumu
  • Ultimate now "Prevents attacks and movements" instead of only rooting ( This is relative to changes from the last PBE patch )

Riven
  • Base health regen increased to 5.5 from 4.5

Ryze
  • Overload ( Q ) - Maximum mana scaling reduced to 5.5% from 6%.
  • Overload ( Q ) - Mana cost reduced to 60 at all levels from 60/65/70/75/80.

  • Rune Prison ( W ) - Maximum Mana scaling increased 5% from 4.5%

  • Spell Flux ( E ) - AP Ratio increased to .4 AP from .35 AP
Items:
Grez's Spectral Lantern
  • Attack Damage decreased to 20 from 25.
Hextech Sweeper
  • Unique Passive: Trap Detection Nearby stealthed enemy trap are revealed.

Last Whisper
  • Cost increased to 2400 gold from 2135 gold.*
*Tooltip has not been updated but this change is currently live on the PBE. Tested and confirmed.

Create a shielding lantern that an ally can use to dash to you.

Holy shit, Ezreal's gonna be even more annoying.

Also Thresh looks like something right out of Dota and WoW.

Love his design, scared about the actual execution.

EDIT: Then again, I just looked at his ratios and most of them are a joke (.4 across everything as far as I can tell, except his ultimate). So we'll have to see.

It's a good idea, to an extent. It prevents Sion-syndrome, which Thresh would be especially vulnerable to otherwise.

This is the most Dota2-esque champion I have ever seen. And I ****in' welcome it.

His ratios are crap because of his passive. He gains armor, magic resistance, and AP off enemy champions, large minions, and sometimes small minions. By the way, he has no armor or magic resistance growth. Like, +0/level.

Really, most Dota2-esque champion to LoL ever. He's a support champion that can transition into a semi-carry if his lane went well enough. He has enough utility to make almost every current LoL support champion jealous.

My only complaint is that it's male. ;__;

"Hey PBEers, CertainlyT here. I bring a late Snowdown gift for you – our latest champion, Thresh, the Chain Warden. Thresh is here to harvest the souls of Valoran’s greatest champions to fuel the armies of the Shadow Isles.

Thresh is a supportive champion, a total baddass male champion in fact, who brings exceptional crowd control to his team and a very unique form of utility to his allies. If chained properly, he can lock down a single opponent for a delightfully wicked amount of time or trap an entire team of enemies within his cage. Thresh’s strength is the ability to displace his enemies and provide burst mobility to his allies. He has some clear weaknesses: relatively low mobility, skillshot reliance, and a dependence on his team to capitalize on the moments of power he creates.
Beyond support, Thresh can function top lane and jungle. His kit naturally favors being in an environment in which you can interact with your allies, so as a top laner he is most effective at harassing to soften his opponents and then supporting some pretty brutal ganks. As a jungler, he brings enough CC and allied mobility to burn down all but the tankiest opponents (just don’t expect a fast jungle clear).

Thresh’s signature ability is his Lantern, which he can throw out to a location. If an ally right clicks on the Lantern, Thresh will pull the ally to him (the ally is dashed toward him). We’ve had some fun times in playtests pulling Skarner into the midst of the enemy team, giving Vayne an over-the-wall lifeline, and bailing out Gypsylord on Tristana (he always Rocket Jumps in…. always).

I’ll give a brief explanation of the rest of his kit:

Thresh’s passive is a soul collection game. Enemies that die around him sometimes drop souls (the bigger they are, the more probable they are to leave a soul). Thresh gains no mitigation per level; he can only access that through collecting souls to fuel his rise to power.

Thresh’s Q is a skillshot grab that stuns and pulls an enemy a fixed distance toward him. He can reactivate it to pull himself to the enemy.

Thresh’s E is a small directional knock that Thresh has the power to shape the movement on – he can push enemies in a line away, pull enemies in a line toward him, or anything in between.

Thresh’s ultimate lets him create a prison around him – a set of 5 destructible walls. If an enemy walks through a wall they break a hole for their allies to walk through but take tons of damage and a strong slow themselves.

Here’s the kind of player we hope will find Thresh most fun:

Players who like communicating with their team to build a feeling of cooperation and coordination over the course of a game – Don’t expect to maximize Thresh’s Lantern without putting in the effort to build a rapport with your teammates;

Players who like a high intensity experience – unlike a lot of our supports, Thresh can’t chill in the brush for 30 seconds without paying a substantial cost to his stat progression, is reliant on his basic attack for harassment (a 475 range whip that can deal bonus magic damage!), and has to combine his abilities dynamically, rather than habituating himself to one cast order;
Players who appreciate controlling a lane, a fight, and a game through the threat of their abilities – he has some relatively long cooldowns that are best used judiciously.

Currently, Thresh is in the midst of our live balance passes. Don’t expect this version to be completely balanced… yet. We should have a better understanding of his game presence by the middle of next week (in fact, the build you are playing is a day behind our iteration cycle). Further, the version of Thresh we are putting on PBE is ready for your testing, but he is still being polished. He doesn’t have final icons yet, his skillshot indicators are not yet final, and a couple of particles are temp or not yet fully implemented. Nonetheless, he’s already a lot of fun, so we hope you’ll enjoy helping us to identify any remaining bugs on him. A big thanks in advance to everyone on the PBE who will help us make Thresh the kind of polished release you’ve come to expect!"

Pretty sure he's going to be a top tier support, or other roles depending what he's good at.

Nah. That passive requires you to be running around in the middle of minion waves collecting souls, which would pretty much mean free harass for your opponents if you're not careful.

And yeah he's designed by CertainlyT.

Well after testing him vs an AI Sivir and having 500 AP. You can pretty much 1hko the Sivir with your ultimate lmao....(1000+ damage)

He's fit for a kill lane more than passive farming. I mean... shit, look at those ****ing skills. Someone is going to die when he hits level 3.
He'll be forced to run a tanky set-up though because his resistances will be shit early game, which only means he'll fail as a support if he doesn't get any kills.

The only problem is that souls scale less as he gets more. By around 61 souls, he has +43 bonuses and souls give .5 so. Someone told me that by around 255, you're at 100 bonuses.

Seems a bit problematic if you ask me.

The souls will still pop up if you just stare at your AD carry farm.

I can see Thresh possibly changing the meta and making non escape carries viable again (MF,Varus,Ashe,etc.). I can't wait, really excited for this one.
