Default Regarding sorcerers

According to various sources, upon advancing into the sorcerer class, you obtain the option to choose between wielding staves or orbs. I've done some research regarding them, and managed to find some differences in stats. While staves provide an extra magic accuracy boost, orbs provide an extra defence boost. As for the damage listing of the two weapons, I'm not sure how to decipher the numbers. Staves have higher numbers in "damage", but I don't know whether this damage reflects magical damage, or merely melee damage with a normal attack. Unfortunately, I was unable to find any definite description regarding the differences between staves and orbs.

So my question is, can anyone provide an insight regarding the actual differences between the two weapon classes, along with the advantages and disadvantages of each? Help would be greatly appreciated.

more def means you will get less damage, accuracy up means you will miss less.

staves ftw, as missing bring you to be hitted instead of knocking back enemies

So you're saying in the end, the bonus stats are the only differences?

Well, okay..I was going to answer this thread 11 hours ago, I was intimidated to, since I only the basics of this stuff. Plus, I don't know how orbs work, just yet.

So far we know this. Staves do not give any bonus magical damage. It's the options on it that may be helpful to you. But all staves give a +5% magic accuracy. Personally, I would just go find a nice dagger in the beginning, since you can use a shield with that. Later on in the game, if you can get a nice staff, you may use that.

About orbs, I honestly don't know. I haven't played that far. But I know one thing, orbs makes you levitate when you run =D!

Not a secret buff, but rather a difference in magical damage perhaps, as the damage ranges are different. "Mattaku...", as in "honestly..."? I was merely asking for clarification.

Nevertheless, I appreciate the replies thus far.

Staff: Easy to upgrade, commonly found, provides +5% Magic Accuracy.

Orb: Pain to upgrade, rare, only usable for Sorcerers above Level 80, provides +5% Physical Defense.

The "Min Damage +x" and "Max Damage +y" you see on both weapons only applies to physical attacks. Typically you must enchant your weapon in order to make it more useful.

In the grand scheme, if you can afford to and find the opportunity to fully upgrade an Orb, it is better than Staves. For the most part though, stick with a Staff.
