And one of the best things about this game is that skill resets are free and even cheap with Ely~ So you can still change your mind if you don't like your choice later on between offensive/hybrid.

Someone feel free to correct me but I'm pretty sure there's no difference between the bard and minstrel defense buffs, both are +30%.
