JW Magic: the Gathering thread

Since the other thread was getting hi-jacked, I might as well make a separate thread.

Discuss away.

Alright Glenn. I figure out about what kind of Magic player Veil is, but what about you? Hmmmm???

Zephy 06-17-2009 12:00 AM

I'm more of a draft-oriented player. I don't really construct many decks these days cause of my availability.

I still have my red/white reveillark deck intact though.

DarkMaverick 06-17-2009 12:16 AM

Sounds like me. I keep a type two deck maintained for the rare occasions I get to go play constructed, but otherwise I just go and draft on Sundays.

Zephy 06-17-2009 12:18 AM

Did you hear about the rumored rule changes? There will be no such thing as mana burn. 8D

DarkMaverick 06-17-2009 12:23 AM

They're official. Magic 2010 Rules Changes : Daily MTG : Magic: The Gathering

Most of it I don't mind, but the change to the combat step is the only thing that sort of bugs me. All it really does is nerf down a lot of cards.

Zephy 06-17-2009 12:29 AM

Lawl. Warp World decks will be dead once these rules take place and my friend had a good one too. My Mogg Fanatic won't be as effective anymore. Q___Q

DarkMaverick 06-17-2009 12:33 AM

Ah, I forgot about the Warped World thing. It's still viable really just now you can't use the hunted creatures.

Let's Q_Q more for Mogg Fanatic. Poor little bugger.

Edit: And Fulminator Mage; Dauntless Escort; Sakura-Tribe Elder; Bosh, Iron Golem....etc.

Zephy 06-17-2009 12:38 AM

inorite? "At the beginning at the end step" is gonna be something weird to say. >.>

DarkMaverick 06-17-2009 12:44 AM

I doubt I will really. I'm just going to miss saying, "Damage on the stack."

Mogg Fantastic no more. Now simply Mogg Fanaverage.

Zephy 06-17-2009 12:47 AM

I'm still gonna use my Mogg Fanatic. It just won't be as nuts as it use to be. Q____Q. How can they nerf the little guy?

DarkMaverick 06-17-2009 12:49 AM

I dunno. He still fulfills his main role. Kill the turn one Birds of Paradise or Llanowar Elves.

I can't count how many games I've won indirectly or directly because of that.

Zephy 06-17-2009 01:13 AM

True... but this will change a lot of things in the future now. Interesting changes to say the least.

Sodacan 06-17-2009 06:12 AM

I'm a very casual player. I'm pretty much the only person in this area who knows what M:tG is. A friend was teaching me how to play and even helped me make a deck. The only deck I have is a noob-friendly Green/White deck. It's been so long since I've played I've forgotten all the rules and terminology. :/

*Blinks for a moment, trying to wrap head around that* ...... Wat?

Ew drafts. A friend dragged me to a couple. I hated them.

No longer take this game seriously enough to enter competition with. Seriously, why the change in rules? D:

To make it easier for new players to understand. So generally just nerfing the game down.

DarkRayne 06-23-2009 04:37 AM

I can understand change in terminology as long as the concept remains the same but to do something like remove Mana Burn c'mon. You can't take elements away from the when you dumb it down for people.

DarkMaverick 06-23-2009 10:44 AM

It's the changes to the combat step that annoy me. I don't care much about the rest of it.
