New Gavist Project: Codename Aurora

For the last 2 months we've had a team working on a new project. This project, codenamed Project Aurora. We expect to launch a public beta of this project at 11:00 PM PDT Saturday, June 27th, 2009.

At the launch we'll issue a press release, send a notification on MMOG, and implement some new APIs here so you can rapidly access Aurora from MMOG. This is not an extension of MMOG; this is a completely separate community project and therefore your MMOG account credentials will not let you in. We had to design it this way because the scope of the project far exceeds MMOG.

It's not a hentai site lol. The new project is directly centered around the gaming industry and should provide a valuable, centralized service to gamers. Unfortunately, as we're still working out some last minute kinks, I can't give more information at this time.

MMOG will have a first look at the new project. After this we'll start presenting it to our partners and affiliates and try to build the most epic community of its kind ever for gamers. It's not a competition to MMOG... but you'll see that after you check the "About" page on the new site.

I hope that everyone at least checks it out; we've gotten some very positive feedback from the Aurora alpha testing team and industry colleagues that know about the project! And yes, I love to keep everyone in suspense~

im a computer noobie, so im not sure what i just read. but if it is what i think it is, then does that mean no more MMOG

or would you care to enlighten me on more details. i would hope that this new project doesn't cost a lot of money, as it would be quite difficult to upgrade both websites on an annual basis. especially in these times...

1) This is a project SEPARATE from MMOG. Think of it as a "sibling".
2) You'll find more about it when we launch. Don't worry about the finances or the logistics. Aurora will be a complement, not a threat, to MMOG.

MMOG 2.0 - lack of funding. It's not completely dropped but moved to "simmer" on the back burner for now.

Aurora - no license costs (I built it myself and I don't charge myself license fees). Like Cath said, this is not intended to destroy mmog - in fact it's not even a forum. It doesn't make good sense for me to build something that competes with another website of mine, heh.
