Your Favorite Characters of the Decade! [Potential Spoilers!]
This thread may be a potential spoiler risk! Careful!
This was inspired by an article in my Game Informer Magazine.
2010 is coming to a close, and with it the 1st decade of the millenium.
In these 10 years we've seen tons of new fictional characters make their debut in TV/Movies/Books/Anime/Manga and of course, Games.
So, tell me who are your favorite characters of this decade?
Keep in mind only characters that made their debut from 2000-2010 are who i'm focusing on. For example, Mario might have been awesome in Super Mario Galaxy, but he's been around since the 80's so he's not exactly of this decade. Any character that was introduced IN that game however counts.
Also, ill + rep anyone who goes out of their way to provide a small paragraph to tell us about their favorite character/characters.
Here are mine!
Joshua Kiryu - The World Ends With you
One of the Partners in the Reaper's Game: He started off as a really arrogant seeming and stereotype snobby character that i couldn't wait to get rid of. but eventually I began to see just how smart this guy really is.
'The Grim Heaper' may have stole the show in most player's hearts but for me, Joshua's mysterious web unraveled in a surprising and massively rewarding way, revealing a character who only appeared to be arrogant: he may test others but is fair in trial and judgement. Making him worthy of the title he carries.
Also... the biblical allegory surrounding him was downright awesome.
Marona - Phantom Brave
Marona is a girl who lost her parents at a young age. However, she has the power to communicate with phantoms and confine them to objects. This power causes her to be feared and avoided by most people.
Pretty stereotypical, i know. So what makes her decade worthy?
The fact that she continues to work as a Chroma, or mercenary while treating the people who hire her yet treat her like crap with respect. Eventually as she continues to succeed in her missions and even showing mercy to those who mistreated her in the past: people one by one begin to accept, respect and love her. The heart-string pulling story makes you feel glad for her too when it does happen.
The moral is awesome: You don't HAVE to mistreat people who mistreated you, and there's magic in forgiveness and kindness. And if you don't close your heart you'll eventually find the people who actually will accept you.
Thats a lot better than other stories i've seen where someone is hated for something: where they usually go insane and on some sort of killing spree or over the top revenge on the people who wronged him or her. I think Marona's way is probably going to get better results.
btw... you guys dont have to type as much as i did to get rep from me... im just really big fans of these two...
Okay! So who's your favorite characters of the decade?
You know how when you were younger and saw this awesome person who did awesome things and was just awesome? Well he was that in my mind plus he had the best catchphrase ever .
As much as I liked Azusa, she is still primarily a moe character that will have replacements in the future. Non of the other characters I've seen in the decade had the huge impact Eve does on me. And damn, I am a sucker for Eve's character design.
I am in slight disapproval of what Yabuki is doing to Yami in TLR and TLR: D.
One thing I've wondered about Kamina though. Sure he is manly and stuff, but he only appears for 7 episodes, and is not even the main character. Why do so many people view him as "The GAR One"?
Just the best protagonist ever. Western-freak, chivalrous pervert, attacks after card game names, and absurdly reckless plans (LETS RAM THE GIANT CITY TANK! WITH OUR SMALLER SHIP!). I love how he'll do anything to keep cow-princess.
One other factor that made me enjoyed who he was is part of the revelation of him being W00, but even being emotionally affected, he just basically went "I don't care, I am me, Haken Browning" without anyone slapping the shit out of him like 500 protagonists before when they are revealed as the villain's son or something.
2. Ibis Douglas (Super Robot Wars Alpha 2)
A cute face, redhaired+black highlights, and modest breasts <3 Apart from that, I was particularly attracted to her story, a true development as a pilot and character.
She had an introverted character, which I can relate to, and suffered from low self esteem and inferior complex by midpoint of the game, she undergoes a dramatic emotional and psychologic development, which was reflected through her stats which BOOMED rapidly.
3. Van (GunXSword)
I like Van because not only is he consistent in his search for revenge, but unlike other shows, he does not repent and eventually get his revenge.

Okay. The visual novel series started in 2007 (I think), and I STILL havn't gone though the novels! But after...
1. Read her general profile.
2. Watched the Kyrie death from Terminator-Jessica on Episode 6.
3. OMFG SHE USES BRASS KNUCKLES!
I think she has fallen into my "top bishonen" list, even though she's a girl. :S Call me crazy, but more crazier that I named my Trickster-Champion after Jessica during my summer vacation in 2010!
2. Niea - "Trickster Online"
Now if you ever touched those Character Prologue books at the game (when doing the Lina accessory quest), you will understand that the character in Trickster you are playing has a general back story on their reasons for joining the Trickster game! For Niea's case, she wants to grab Cavalair's moolah to buy her mamonth-coated gloves... But before that she joined every sport competition just to earn money for her family. (She wines that the school could award better than a simple trophy.)
Niea's class, the Bunny is a strong Power-type class, dealing with foes using one-on-one skills (based on boxing?). However, your adventures can be unique once you are ready to hit third job, opening to "Champion", the Pure-Bunny class who carries deadly 1:1 skills with a bit of MA to unleash your flames, or "Duelist", the sister-counterpart of the Buffalo, carrying the skills from the Warrior Tree.
Another thing, I think Niea is designed as one of the eye candy advert characters to lure new players to try Trickster. Anime and manga media these days carry a hint of "kemonomimi", people wearing animal-eared costumes. (Popular ones include cat ears and bunny-ears!)
Trickster the game itself would make a nice general RPG thanks to the story and the choice of eight characters to play as and learn their back-stories and views...
3. Panty and Stocking - "Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt"
*Sorry, no pic ATM!*
Probably the anime I was forced to watch this year because I am a adult and want to look for some sexy humor and fanservice. I also like the approach of "East attemps West" animation, which GAINAX did a good job at pulling this kind of stuff!
It's hard to pick one girl, because seeing them together is more fun than focus on one! First is Panty, your "sex and men addict", and Stocking, a gothic-loli who loves sweets! I don't know what else because words is hard to pick up when you watch the action scenes, the ecchi/fetish (tentacles, etc) scenes... GAH! I don't know where to start!
The anime is still on-going right now, so their next adventures full of fun and spoofs do not end... Yet.
4. Siesta Sisters - Umineko no Naku Koro Ni
The group of bunny-eared sissters include "Siesta 410" (short blue-hair), "Siesta 45" (pink pig-tails), and "Siesta 00" (long blonde). There is one more sister, but she had a bad fate with the "black witch".
Anyway, they were a odd bunch because coming from the murder events in 1989, i'm not sure if "bare-legged" ladies with bunny-ears would pop up out of nowhere... But it did happen. I'm a maget for any character with bunny-ears (Niea from Trickster, Tewi and Reisen from Touhou, etc.), so these sisters are the big source for getting me hooked into Umineko.
They look like teenagers, but some comments pointed out that they act like "little children", because they can break to tears if they got pointed with harsh remarks... (I know there is one scene where Kinzo made the sisters cry after asking them some "interview questions"...)
But overall, i'm glad they are around to pull a bit of fun and humor at some parts fo the story (ex: Episode 6 where Gaap stop Siesta 410 and 45 by grabbing their ears! (And they're tickleish? Cute!))
Okay. That's it for now. I put way so much text for each charas! X_X
this was the character that got me into the gundam world and exploring and understanding more of it. he killed his parents in the name of god, and he was the main character that changed throughover the gundam series (becoming the first "arab" on them). he acts really cool and believes in gundam, and his new ideals.
2- Altair Ibn Al Ahad
y on the list?
if we're talking about revolution, assassins creed was one of that revolutioned the market of gaming, highly detailed, and extreme badassery, stealth mode, this and it's succesfull sequels made ubisoft one of the most respected game companies.
3- Alex Mercer
Y on the list?
if we're gonna talk about badassery and genetic manipulation, we cannot leave out alex mercer, the ultimate badass of NY city, having multiple genetic powers allow him to turn his body into the ultimate killing machine, having multiple weapons, ways of gathering data, ultra speeding him up, making walk through walls, all the things u've ever dreamed about!
Y on the list?
being the first light novel i've ever watched (from key's) i was totally amazed, actually he's not like the guy to be putten, if not all the characters (specially yui, iwasawa, kanade and yurippe) but i just put him bcoz he's the main character.
i bet everybody knows it so i'll just resume it one word: A GOOD GUY.
5- Tomoya Okazaki
Y on the list?
as above, i've put this bcoz he's main character, despite looking like a bad guy on his classmates eyes, he really is a good guy, helped a lot of girls through the serie despite having lots of family problems
i think i got more, if i happen to remember somebody, ill EDIT =D

Reason: Fixed your images.
Not many characters that debuted in this decade are memorable to me :|
So it's hard to decide on a favorite.
I'll just go with Ezio for now, but I'm sure that there are better characters to choose from, it's just that I haven't given much thought yet.
I mostly like him because Assassin's Creed 2 was a pretty fun game
And I love stealth games...
And Ezio has a fun personality.
...And he's bros with Leonardo Da Vinci.
Edit: In terms of anime/manga, I like the main characters in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. But since most of them debuted before 2000, I'll go with Jolyne Kujo from Part 6, I guess.
Why I liek:
Along with the other JoJo's, Jolyne Kujo kicks ass and take names. Jolyne's ability is that she can unravel her body into string. I mostly like how the JoJo's always manage to come up with creative strategies when things look bleak. For example, in a battle between Jolyne and the villain, the villain has the ability to manipulate gravitational force. So, he can turn objects inside out by punching them. Pretty OP, imo. Jolyne gets punched a few times, but she comes up with a pretty cool counter to nullify the effect of his ability.
