I think we're all selfish, some of us might want to help others or serve others for their own pleasure or fame or glory or rank or trust. Some of us might want to destroy others, dominate others, defeat others competitively or not, make others feel unhappy for revenge and that our primary goal, whether consciously or not is to reproduce ourselves, or ultimately, to keep the species alive. However, this we can only born so much, as so, the fittest will live and adapt. Although, one characteristic that supposedly makes us unique from other species is our reasoning, however the theory of evolution contradicts this (by theorizing that we evolved) and whether we really exist or not is interdependent if whether a higher consciousness acknowledges us or not and whether the mythological construct of I is seemingly irrelevant to us humans as we value everything we perceive.
