Default Bioshock Infinite

Quote:
From Wikipedia:

BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter video game developed by Irrational Games, and published by 2K Games. Previously known as "Project Icarus" in development, it was released worldwide on the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 platforms on March 26, 2013. BioShock Infinite is the third installment in the BioShock series, and though it is not part of the storyline of previous BioShock games, it does feature similar gameplay concepts and themes. The game's concept and setting were developed by Irrational's creative lead, Ken Levine, who took inspiration from both historical events at the turn of the 20th century, as well as more recent ones at the time such as the "Occupy" protests.

Set in 1912 during the growth of American exceptionalism, the game has protagonist, former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, sent to the floating air-city of Columbia to find a young woman, Elizabeth, who has been held captive there for most of her life. Though Booker rescues Elizabeth, the two are pursued by the city's warring factions: the nativist and elite Founders that strive to keep the city for pure Americans, and the Vox Populi, a rebel grouping representing the common people. Booker finds Elizabeth to be central to this conflict, and learns that she possesses strange powers to manipulate rifts in the space-time continuum that ravage Columbia.

The player controls Booker throughout the game, eventually working with the AI-controlled Elizabeth. Like previous BioShock games, the player uses a combination of weapons, gears, and psychokinetic powers granted through vigors. Elizabeth's own powers can also be used to help fight hostile forces. In contrast to the limited spaces of the underwater city of Rapture, the open-air city of Columbia provides for more combat challenges, including combat that takes place aboard the city's Skyline rollercoaster-like rail system. The game also features an optional "1999 Mode", harking back to games like System Shock 2 where decisions made by the player will have a more permanent impact on the game.

BioShock Infinite won numerous pre-release awards for its display at E3 2011, including Best of Show from the Game Critics Awards. Upon release, the game received critical acclaim and was favorably compared to, with some even considering it had surpassed, the original BioShock game. The game's plot and visual aesthetics were particularly praised (with its ending sparking debates across internet forums), while the combat received a mixed response with some praising its new additions and others criticizing its simplicity. Its themes of political and religious beliefs, and the use of excessive violent imagery have also raised controversy. Take Two has reported that over 3.7 million retail copies have shipped within the first two months of the game's release.
I picked this up after Amazon had it on sale for $40. I didn't know what to expect since this is in the sky instead of under water like the first two were, but I literally spent an hour and a half just walking around the city at the start of the game. It's beautiful! Lots of old music (most of which I think I've heard before) and "mini games" to play...until the *crap* hits the fan lol.

BioShock Infiniteā€˜s DLC Lets You Play as Elizabeth. In Rapture.

Umm...ouch....$20? ;_;

Quote:

All of the lead protagonists in the BioShock games have been men. Haunted, lethally determined men. But, thanks to an upcoming downloadable add-on, players will be able to take control of Elizabeth, the AI character who was the focus of BioShock Infinite.

Hundreds of thousands of people gobbled up the twisty, surprise-filled storyline of BioShock Infinite right after it came out. But, it's probably a safe bet, that most of them haven't fired the game back up since they finished. Ken Levine and the team at Irrational Games think they have pretty good reasons for those masses to come back. The first is Clash in the Clouds, a new, combat-focused DLC pack that's available starting today for $5. And, sometime in the future, players will get Burial at Sea, a hardboiled adventure set in 1958 where you'll play as both Booker and Elizabeth in Rapture. That's right: Elizabeth will be playable. In Rapture. At the height of the underwater city's beauty. Interested?

For months, that Season Pass pane in BioShock Infinite's menus seemed to tease players holding out for the promise of more adventures in the floating, secessionist city of Columbia. When making the announcement yesterday, Levine said that he and his cohorts at Irrational listened to what fans said they wanted with regard to DLC. The add-ons weren't farmed off to auxiliary developers, it's not comprised of content that's already on the disc and isn't a bunch of ideas that were set aside for later use by corporate decision-making.

Clash in the Clouds

When Clash in the Clouds hits Steam today, it'll be only the first add-on for the well-recieved game. Designed by Infinite's lead level designer Forrest Dowling, Clash in the Clouds puts players against 15 waves of enemies in four all-new maps all across Columbia. Leaderboards will chart how you do against other friends playing these battles and players will earn new achievements and trophies. The extra content also fears new voxaphones for fan-favorite character Rosalind Lutece to flesh out parts of her backstory, as well as new behind-the-scenes video and concept art.

Burial at Sea

The two-part Burial at Sea will drop the lead characters of Infinite into the iconic city from the first BioShock game, in the middle of what looked like a noir-inflected mystery. Levine promised that you'll be seeing some familiar faces from the underwater city's tortured history. You can see glimpses of Booker and Elizabeth in Rapture in the teaser above. Levine said that making Elizabeth a playable character was another example of giving fans what they wanted. Burial at Sea will cost $20 for both parts.

You'll be able to see more of Clash in the Clouds' gameplay in a video going up on Kotaku later today and we'll have more on Burial at Sea and the future of BioShock in interviews with Ken Levine later this week.

That's equally bad if not worse. You are literally paying for a product you have no idea on.

Well considering you can buy it after the DLC comes out, it's not that bad of an idea to do so if reviews are all good. However, I have yet to find a reviewer that coincides with my views on games and I do quite love the franchise so it's not that bad of a purchase for me.
