MSG? Do you use it in cooking?

Anyway, do you guys using MSG when cooking?

MSG is such a 1980's condiment, and considered by many now to be inferior. If you want a good flavor booster, use fresh stock, frozen stock, or powdered stock. Powdered chicken stock is actually quite popular in a lot of restaurants now. Add half a teaspoon or so to a fish and vegetable stir fry and it will taste like it was bought in. The good stuff costs more than MSG, but you get long lasting flavor out of it. With MSG, the flavor tends to wear off and wane after the first three bites.

i've been eating MSG everyday for my whole life. when i was little i used to see it and be like "i want some" and ate a little from the shaker. haha

i never had a side effect and i never even knew it was supposed to be bad for u. i used to see things like "no MSG" on signs and i was like "what's that" and then i realized i'd been eating it forever i decided to ignore all the bad things said and continue on eating it as usual.

Some of the food I eat contains MSG, but I don't eat it all the time though, I just eat whatever there is.

By the time I was even aware of it, everything that mentioned it was talking about not having it in their food. So, I went on thinking it was probably something unthinkably bad. Then, I see this thread and it's just really salty salt?

I am black, so I cannot be a "random white person" who gets allergic. I have no allergies, and I am balding already.

I'd try it, if not for Vorpal mentioning that there are better-tasting alternatives.

I'm much more interested in Kosher Salt and Sea Salt. Anyone had those? How do they taste? Are they worth the hype being made about them?

To ShadowCard, MSG is in most things that taste good. It enhances flavor due to its similarity to glutamene and glutamic acid.
