I made this for dinner last night

SHEPARD'S PIE AWWWYEUH e
I don't have an actual recipe so yeah e

grab around 5 or so mid size potatoes (depends how much ground beef/pork/whatever it is you're using. I used around 1.6lbs of meat). Chop em up or first peel them if you don't like skins. Dump them in a pot of water and let that boil on high with a bit of salt in the water. When you notice the water boiling turn the heat down to medium heat.

While that's doing it's thing grab some veggies. You can use whatever you like for the vegetables. Carrots, bell peppers and onions are favourites of mine. There aren't really any set measurements of veggies but don't make more then how much meat you have. You want to have like... vegetables equivalent to half of the meat you have? If that makes any sense (sobs). Toss them in a casserole dish or whatever you plan on making the shepard's pie in.

Now start cooking the ground meat. I cook mine at around medium-high heat. Cook the ground meat til its brown unless you wanna get sick later (herp). In the meat use some spices and junk; I like to use garlic powder, salt, pepper and a bit of rosemary. Once the meat is fully cooked you can drain most of the grease out but it's up to you (better if you drain it imo). Once that's done toss in the veggies and cook them with the meat for 3-4 minutes.

For the sauce I tend to use...

a small splash of L&P
a big splash of balsamic or red wine vinegar
3/4 cup of red cooking wine
1/2 ketchup or tomato paste
2tbsp of mustard

You may need to use more or less depending on how much you're making of course. Anyways set the heat on the meat to low now so it stays warm.

Drain the potatoes and either get a masher or an electric beater. Grab some milk and butter/margarine and mash those bastards. Up to you when it comes to what you wanna put in it (spices, cheeses...) or how thick/creamy/whatever you want those potatoes to be. Once that's done set it to the side and grab the dish you're making this stuff in. First put in the meat/veggie mixture, then place the potato on top. Set the oven to broil and let your pie broil til the top starts to brown and become crispy. Enjoy. <:
