Default Help with S-Cancelling?

So, recently, I've figured out how to pull out a shift and half-dash whenever the situation calls for it mid-combo, but after seeing it pulled off a few times, I'm wondering how exactly does S-cancelling work? I recently saw a few combo videos on youtube and the string of dAS's appeals to me. Are people doing dAS S dAS S dAS S etc?

The combo I'm practicing with to get the height out (for now), is:

AS shift AAAA halfdash AAAA dAS S dAS S and probably something at the end.

I've already tried to dash out of S, but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't? Am I supposed to be dashing as soon as possible or do I have to wait a little? :x

Any help would be appreciated.

I dash the moment I see Eir moving her wand, and I think there's a little bit of wait time; just after she starts to move her wand.

Though I don't land it 100% of the time =/

S has a little delay, so you have to wait a little for her to twitch her wand a little bit.

What i do, is spam dash after S >.> half the times it works but what i think is if you wait after the S, you wont cancel until a while.

Is usually how I do it. Pause right after dAS, but dash immediately after the S-cancel.

well.. I think of eir dancing when she does dash as s (inorite how weird am I! she twirls ok)

well its kind like ta ta (d as) tum (s) ta ta tum etc. etc.

make sure you don't cancel the book hit and dash right when you see her move the wand after the book hits.

press every single button seperately and you should be fine

P.S Are you that person that asked for my help in the practice field?

For me, whenever I do eir frontal (the ass dash ), or any combo actually, I listen to the "beat" of each and every sound of its respective animation. For eir frontal, it'd be something like this:

*pretend this is like a music sheet x.x
*assume 1 = any skill of your choice

Eir frontal to the right:

What you see/hear..............: > > AS S > > AS 1
The actual button pressing: > > A SS > > A S1

I hope you understand this notation. Basically, you press 2 buttons or sequences of buttons in quick succession (not simultaneously) during the first button animation, then press the 3rd button during the 2nd button/button sequence animation and so on. Listening to the sound really helps a lot, so think of comboing as a sequence of rhythmic button presses.

Well, in subtlety, you follow a "pattern" of sorts. Once you get used to a certain pattern, you tend to repeat that pattern, and eventually you come to perfect it, or close to it.

Such as auto-stepping and poking with Dainn. It involves a unique pattern. I use mine as with animation initiation + ending.

I've yet to make out one for Eir.

Same thing with Sieg's windmill and WS cancel. :3

What works for me is instead of doing >> A S S>>, I'm doing >> A S >S>. (The >S> being pressed fast enough, so that the >'s will register as a dash.) Also, from a standing (idle) position, I can pull >S> off, but not S>>, for some reason.

autostep had a pattern?! =O
dAS S is same as windmill cancel basically
WS cancel too long i've forgotten. now i just wait until i feel like wanting to hit the opponent then i do the sidestep and dash a

^that works wonders!
but i do it differently
>> A S (S>)> press (S>) together better in terms of it ending in a dash (this is how i do IA cancel lol)
anyways. once u finish with this u should be able to do >> A S S >> even with the gap

Ooo, thanks for the help, guys I'm starting to get the hang of it, but I rather than not actually pulling off the dash part, now it seems like I'm hitting S too fast, so I cancel the 2nd hit of dAS, now D: I'm sure I'll stop with more practice, though.

@DivineRoyalty: I don't think so, I haven't asked anyone for combo help, recently...I think.
