Default Bots for the Wiki

I managed to get a wiki bot logged into (using my account) and working on the DN wiki we have, and to be frank, I'm really excited. It can do automated uploads of the stupid code generated item pages as well as item icons which I'm sure all of you who have been helping out agree, is a total drag. As well as tweaking page categories and the like.

However, I'm aware that bot usage is restricted to the wiki team only, and precautions have been made to prevent random bots from running on the wiki. So my questions are:
  • Who do I need to contact to obtain approval for doing this?
  • How would I apply to the wiki team? (assuming I need this permission)
  • Assuming everything's ok, should I create a separate account for bot stuff?

I do realize that I haven't been around for very long, but I've got the best of intentions for this wiki. Thanks!

Very awesome -- because of our SSO solution we've had challenges with getting wiki bots to work properly.

If you don't mind, please PM me details of what you did with the bot to allow it to authenticate. I want to make sure we're doing this securely. As Harlequin mentioned, someone will be in touch with you regarding wiki staff.

To answer your #3, we do require separate accounts for bots. Once you've had a chance to talk to Sidero and the wiki team, we'll determine next steps from there.

Thanks!
