what's the difference between spiral and vortex geode when u trade in the comet dusts?

you really dont want spiral because you'll have to have a certain level before you use it

for example: if u get a +10 spiral you would need a +9 piece of equipment
while a +10 vortex can be used no matter what level ur equipment is

I had just assumed that spiral geode was for armors, and vortex geode was for weapons.

I got a +7 spiral geode but it says it's for primary weapons, so I don't think it's necessarily only armors
