MMOG Apparel Contest

MyMMOGames Apparel Contest
August 1, 2008 - August 15, 2008

MyMMOGames.net will begin selling apparel to help offset some of the server costs. Our goal with this is to design something people would actually want to wear. We're going to start with T-shirts and may move on to other things depending upon how well this works.

Submissions will be voted on from August 16th to August 22nd. The staff will have final say on all submissions - if nothing of quality is submitted we'll design something among the staff.

I can't really set criteria for this because everyone's idea of what a good shirt design is will be different. I want two images per submission - one for the front breast pocket area (or possibly centered on the chest) and one for the back. Please submit your design in 72 dpi for the voting process, but have a 300 dpi version available for print if you win.

The submissions must have the full URL of the site either on the front or back, the logo, and the mascot. If you need custom mascot poses please let us know and we can get with Kohane for those.

The deadline for submissions is 11:59 PM on Friday, August 15th. The winner will have their art featured on the first round of MyMMO apparel (subjct to staff approval) and will receive a free shirt when they are printed. The front logo will also be used for the staff polos, with the word "staff" or <position title> and your forum name added. These will be good if we ever start getting booths or something at anime or game cons.

It's really hard to set criteria for this, so if you need any clarification on what we're asking, please ask.

Just keep this in mind when designing: "would I wear this in public?"

Forgot to mention - I envisioned the base as white - but if you want another color as the base that's ok too - just be sure you specify it.

Also, for the "free shirt to winner" - It doesn't matter if you're in the USA or Singapore - if you win I'll get it to you (provided you give me a valid address).

Can you define what DPI is please? T_T

NoeJeko 07-30-2008 11:43 PM

dots per inch - a unit of resolution

If I had to guess, every image in your sig/avatar is 72 dpi. Images optimized for printing are 300 dpi - you can change this in the image size in Photoshop.

Joey 07-30-2008 11:47 PM

Oh, okay.

Also, could you provide a t-shirt image base, so that we can place everything properly on it?

NoeJeko 07-30-2008 11:57 PM

T-shirt image base? I don't get it, you're starting with a blank white t-shirt. The design doesn't have to be pasted atop a silhouette of a t-shirt - just the positioning noted (not precise, "upper left", "middle center" will be sufficient).

I also forgot to mention, please PM entries to me.

I mean like... So we can get actual t-shirt measurements and stuff, and not have to make our own ghetto-ass t-shirts. (If we make them, sleeves will be different lengths and stuff, and they'll be lopsided). Just figured getting the right measurements would be nice.

NoeJeko 07-31-2008 12:10 AM

Precise measurements can't be given since shirts come in S/M/L/XL/XXL, etc. Just take one of your shirts and measure it =]

Yuki 07-31-2008 12:13 AM

Ou this sounds like fun, I design t-shirts for church and junk and junk and clubs. I'll work on something when I have the free time ;D

Joey 07-31-2008 12:33 AM

I just went out of my way a little to help with this lol. I got base t-shirt images for people to use. This way, they can submit the images to be used, as well as how the placement of the images should go on the shirts:

Oh that's what you wanted... sorry, it's almost 1AM and I've been dealing with customers that can't figure out how to reset a password at work =[

Joey 07-31-2008 12:36 AM

Seriously? How hard can it be to reset a password... T_T

I just figured every little bit helps, right?

Okay, I'd feel really bad about having to ask Kohane to do a lot of drawings for a lot of people, So I was wondering one thing:

Is it alright for us to draw the mascot in our own poses (assuming is still looks like the mascot and not just some little girl wearing the same thing)?

I'd really prefer that he did them since it's his design and it'll make it look more uniform - he already said that he doesn't mind doing custom art and knew he'd have to do a few when he won. That's why I wanted those requests posted here, though, so we could filter them before slamming him with work.

Though, I guess if he approves the ones done by others it could work too - I just don't want 50 different versions of the mascot - all looking like a different person, heh.

The one I had in mind is a little complicated.

Basically, the mascot girl is waving around one of those wands to blow giant bubbles, and the bubble she has is basically the rainbow colored ball that is the MOG logo on the wiki.

sorta like that, but with a shorter bubble and with her waving the wand over her head like a flag.

Hey Noe, full url = mymmogames.net, right?

Or do I have to put like, http://.www.mymmogames.net? (minus the period)

NoeJeko 08-03-2008 04:05 PM

http://www.mymmogames.net

Joey 08-04-2008 10:21 PM

Oh, well, then I'll have to edit my submission a little bit. :O

I'll send in an edited version. Do you want it sent to you, or to someone else?

NoeJeko 08-05-2008 06:10 AM

Please send to me - I'll compile them all and create the poll once it's all done =]

Bob 08-07-2008 11:17 AM

=) Can I submit more than one design?
