HELP! Boot up

I turn on my computer and it just goes into a black screen... I even tried to manually chose Windows 7 to boo up but it still goes into black screen >,<

u mean u start up pc, it loads bios then crashes windows? or u start pc and no image at all? also if u could add a little more data like, how long since u did manteinance and stuff and how is the "blackout", depending on it it is possible to know if it is a CPU problem, a graphic card problem, RAM, etc

Well if you can't get it going at all, I'm not sure what to tell you... If you manage to get it up at least once, trying downloading/running Avast!

If I remember right, it has a scan that can run before your computer startup. I haven't had to use it in over 2 years though, so don't take that as a fact. Only other thing I can think to do is take it in to get it checked out. I would suggest Best Buy's 'Geek Squad' as a good place to go. They might shaft you in the price, but they hire people that know what they're doing.

Hmmm I had a problem where the Windows logo would show up, but then where the log in screen is suppose to come up, it was just a black screen with the cursor.

If it's like that, your hard drive is dead :X

If it still doesn't work try a startup repair by booting into your windows 7 disc.

Ok well I just turned it on and left the black screen on for like an hour. It started to do some repair thing and it seems to be fixed but I have a feeling it will happen in the future.

Even if you have it up and running, I highly recommend you to download and install Avast! even if things seem and look normal. It'll most definitely prevent your computer from doing it again in the future (unless you have defect component(s).)

if the psu fan will not spin will the whole system not work?

It should work, but your PSU will get really hot and it's quite dangerous to let a power supply go that hot.

it would be safer to change your PSU, if the PSU dies suddenly it might spike the whole system and other parts might die too.

basically i turn on the system and it has the blackscreen again but i noticed that the psu fan didnt spin. so im planning to replace the psu, will that fix it all?

That's hard to say. It could be anything, but the PSU is part of the problem.

zzzzzzzz bought a new psu. hooked it up found out its my harddrive... its fried or something i dont even know how that happened but yeah. need to go buy a new harddrive tomorrow

probably the PSU fried the harddrive

check the capacitors on the motherboard too, if they are bloated they might die soon.

bought a new psu and hdd. HOPEFULLY the same thing doesnt happen with these new ones v_v

Momentus XT hybrid drive causing headaches, Seagate working to fix -- Engadget <-- I won't really recommend it, or just update the firmware and hope nothing happens.

SSD prices are gonna fall anyway.
