The guy is obviously holding a sales pitch. Microsoft
CEO Steve Ballmer.
Although he has a point that it'll probably backlash on the corps not willing to upgrade. My bet is this won't be happening till windows 7 arrives and is fully operational. I'm basing this on 2 facts:
1. The time between Vista & Windows 7. Just when Vista starts to take over Microsoft releases a beta for their new operating system. Instead of being plain silly and upgrading twice why not upgrade once. Unless you're one of those ipod/mac lovers and want to be state of the art. But HEY you probably would own a mac than wouldn't you? Which brings me to..
2. Economic crises, any corp currently running on Windows. Will not spend an amazing amount of money on upgrading. Upgrading a SMB will easily cost you more than $10.000 (Unless there are just 2 employees). Now where does a company find that amount of money in a time when everybody screams fire. Not to mention the coming Windows 7.
*for any one that wants to calculate the amount of money: Software licenses, hardware, technical equipment, technicians (depending on the size of the business), upgrade support & last but not least cost your employees are unable to make profit since their computer is being upgraded.
Rather than spousing out nonsense like this. I would rather see Microsoft open the doors to public going a bit more open source or at least work more with the ISO. Since i.e. the cross browser compatibility is just plain rubbish. About 5% of a web page you load is needed to fix stuff like that... unnecessary overhead.
Rather than thinking 1 year ahead think 10 years ahead and for god sake Vista was blown out of perspective just admit, regret & forget it.
*edit* Lol went a bit overboard with that.Ended up ranting.. Microsoft wont notice and care anyway.
